Today we’d like to introduce you to Thomas Jimenez.
Hi Thomas, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started singing when I was a little kid, but I was always afraid to sing In front of people. That all changed when I got into high school choir. My senior year of high school I had a lot of solo performances for the choir concerts, I fell in love with singing in front of people, and sharing my talent. After I graduated, I wanted to continue my singing career, so I picked up the guitar when I was 18. Soon after that, I played my first live performance outside of choir. I played at “Rebecca creek distillery”, I had a lot of fun and wanted to continue. I played at other places, with the help of my good friend JoBlake Young, and his son Christian, they would invite my to play with them to get experience. When 2020 happened and everything shut down I couldn’t perform, so I decided I wanted to try and write my own original music. I wrote my first song with my good friend Christian Young. It was titled “Backroad”, I later recorded and released the song on to streaming platforms. That leads me to where I am today still chasing my “country music dream”.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It has not for sure, my biggest struggle is finding the time to perform. I currently work a day job, and that makes me most of my money currently. Finding the time to perform between my day job, and my dream is a tough schedule. But I am making it work. I do plan to eventually singing for a living.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a musician. I sing country music. I write songs, and play guitar. I would have to say I’m best known for my song “Backroad” it has the most streams out of all my songs, and my friends and family love that song. I’m most proud of my original songs, if you asked me 5 years ago if I’d have original music out on Spotify, if tell you you’re lying. It’s hard to believe that I write my own songs now, because just five years ago, it was something I dreamed about doing.
So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
I love collaborating with people, I just wrote a song with another artist here in San Antonio. It feels good to write with someone else, and see how they write there songs. Everyone has a different way of writing, and it’s cool to share your knowledge, and ideas with others. People can support me by streaming my music, it’s out on all music streaming platforms. I also have an Instagram everyone can follow.
