Rising Stars: Meet The Loft

Today we’d like to introduce you to The Loft.

Hi The Loft, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Our Story
We’re Jackie and Brittany—two photographers who met years ago through the San Antonio photography scene. We each run our own businesses (Jackie Willome Photography and Brooks & Co. Photography), but when we realized we were in the same building with the same idea—to create a rental studio—we knew we had to team up.

The Loft was born from a shared need: a space with variety, flexibility, and inspiration for all kinds of creatives. We kept getting asked if others could use our space, and we noticed there just weren’t many spots in San Antonio offering what we wanted ourselves—great light, variety, and the freedom to make it your own.

From the start, our vision was simple: create a place where photographers of all levels could build beautiful imagery for their clients. And we like to keep it interesting. We’re constantly changing things up—painting, moving furniture, adding props—because we get bored easily (just like many of our renters). That’s what inspired our All-Access pass: full access to the extra shooting space and an evolving prop collection to keep creativity flowing.

The Loft feels like home to Jackie—she’s been in the space for 10 years, longer than any place she’s ever lived. It’s where she resets and reconnects with her creativity. For Brittany, it’s a space that sparks new ideas every time she walks through the door—and some of her favorite work has been made right here.

What’s next? More sets. More light. More inspiration. We’re always dreaming up what’s possible—and The Loft is where those dreams take shape.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It’s been mostly smooth—though like any new business, we’ve had our fair share of growing pains. From figuring out the best way to run a shared space to refining our policies as we go, we’ve definitely learned a lot by doing. There’s been a bit of trial and error, but every challenge has helped us make The Loft better, more efficient, and more aligned with what our community needs.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
At The Loft, we’re all about creating a space that fuels creativity. What we’re known for? The light. The variety. And the vibe. From dreamy maternity sessions to playful family portraits and bold branding shoots, The Loft has hosted it all—and continues to evolve with our clients’ needs.

What sets us apart is how customizable the space is. With rotating furniture, seasonal sets, curated props, colorful backdrops, and a color-changing feature wall, it’s easy to walk in with a vision and make it your own. We’ve also made it practical—our clients love the keyless entry, access to a kitchen and bathroom, and the ease of having everything set up and ready to go.

We’re most proud of the fact that this space feels like a blank canvas for photographers, creators, and business owners to bring their ideas to life. It’s designed to be flexible, welcoming, and inspiring—just like the community we serve.

What matters most to you? Why?
What matters most to us is creating a space that inspires people to make something they’re proud of. We built The Loft not just as a rental studio, but as a home base for creativity in San Antonio—a place where artists, photographers, and dreamers at all levels feel welcome.

We care deeply about fostering a space that’s flexible, beautiful, and ever-changing—because we know how important variety and inspiration are to staying creatively energized. We want people to walk in and feel instantly lit up with ideas.

At the end of the day, what fuels us is watching others bring their visions to life here. That sense of community, of shared creativity—that’s the real magic of The Loft, and it’s what keeps us going.
