Today we’d like to introduce you to Shelby Barron.
Hi Shelby, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I began my journey in the world of western modeling, which was an exciting yet challenging experience. Over time, I realized the environment was becoming increasingly toxic and unfulfilling, so I decided to make a change. I shifted my focus toward technology, where I could channel my creativity in a more balanced and independent way. Building a career in tech allowed me to work for myself, pursue projects I’m passionate about, and find a sense of peace that I couldn’t find in the modeling industry. This shift has been both empowering and fulfilling, shaping the path I’m on today.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It hasn’t been a smooth road. The tech industry is incredibly broad, and figuring out where I fit in was a real challenge. I spent a lot of time exploring different areas, which at times felt overwhelming and uncertain. Narrowing it down to where I felt most comfortable took patience and persistence. Ultimately, I discovered that my passion lies in website design and development, and focusing on that niche has given me a sense of direction and confidence in my career path.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I specialize in website design and development, offering services that range from diagnosing and improving existing websites to creating entirely new ones from the ground up. My work focuses on building functional, visually appealing, and user-friendly websites that help clients achieve their goals. I am most proud of the websites I’ve built for my clients, as each project reflects their unique vision and success. What truly sets me apart is being recognized by Influential Women Magazine as part of the 2026 Most Influential Women class, an honor that highlights both my professional impact and dedication to excellence in web development.
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
I don’t consider myself a risk-taker in the traditional sense. Instead, I see myself as someone who recognizes opportunities for career growth and acts on them. For five years, I worked in the education system as a teacher, yet my efforts and accomplishments often went unnoticed. It wasn’t until I made the decision to transition into web design that my work began to gain recognition. In the tech industry, my accomplishments started attracting attention from influential women, Marquis Who’s Who, and Voyage Dallas. I had never been approached by magazines to share my story until I made this career change. For me, taking what might look like a risk to others was really about pursuing a path that offered the potential for growth and fulfillment.
