Today we’d like to introduce you to Monica Cole
Hi Monica, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My journey into skincare began in 2016, just as my husband, after 25 years, completed his bachelor’s degree. I had worked as a medical assistant straight out of high school, spending 16 years in the medical field. But I started feeling a pull toward something new, something more creative, although I wasn’t entirely sure what that would be.
I always loved makeup. I wore a lot of it through my 20s and 30s and would often do makeup for friends, especially around prom season, purely as a favor and for fun. I began exploring cosmetology courses, hoping to refine my skills, only to realize makeup artistry was more of a natural talent than a field you formally study. During this exploration, I discovered the esthetician program. Although I initially had no idea what an esthetician did, I noticed it offered some training in makeup but focused mainly on skincare.
Around that time, I shared my thoughts with my sister-in-law, Dr. Britten Cole, a highly respected anesthesiologist with a mobile spa practice in Orlando, Florida. Her immediate enthusiasm for the idea of me becoming an esthetician was infectious. She encouraged me to take a leap of faith, and I did. Little did I know that I would fall deeply in love with skincare, not just as a profession but as a passion.
In esthetics school, I found myself thriving. I was busy every day, and by the end, I was awarded Most Likely to Succeed at Milan Institute of Cosmetology in 2017. It was during this time that faith and luck seemed to align. Word had spread about my skill as a lash technician, and one day, the manager from My Zespa Medspa (now Perfect Touch Medspa) came in for a lash set. She was so impressed that she recommended me to the spa’s owner. A week later, I got the call that would change my life—I was invited to interview at the spa. Eight years later, I’m still with Perfect Touch Medspa, where I found my home away from home.
Just one month into working there, I was promoted to manager, and since then, I’ve been the lead esthetician. I provide a range of aesthetic treatments, from laser hair removal, microneedling with PRP, and Morpheus8 to IPL photofacials, Hydrafacials, and various customized facials for different skin types. Additionally, I serve as an injector for neuromodulators like Botox and Xeomin, bringing advanced skincare solutions to my clients.
In addition to my role at Perfect Touch Medspa, I am incredibly proud to be the COO and face of Famous AF, a skincare line founded by my sister-in-law, Dr. Britten Cole. Dr. Cole, a distinguished anesthesiologist, created Famous AF as a solution to her own struggles with acne—a journey that inspired her to develop products specifically designed to tackle persistent skin issues. With a deep understanding of the challenges associated with acne and hyperpigmentation, she crafted Famous AF to be a high-quality, results-driven skincare brand that offers hope and real solutions for individuals dealing with similar concerns.
At Famous AF, our goal is to empower our clients to embrace their natural beauty by providing effective, science-backed skincare. We’re committed to developing products that not only improve the skin but also foster confidence, helping users feel proud of their complexion. Our range targets everything from breakouts to uneven skin tone, prioritizing ingredients that are both gentle and transformative. I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
God has truly blessed me in this journey. Working with both Perfect Touch Medspa and Famous AF has been nothing short of a dream come true. Since making this career switch, I can honestly say I haven’t had a single “bad” day. Every day brings me joy, purpose, and the chance to do what I love. I wish everyone could find their niche, their true passion, and experience the fulfillment that comes from doing what they were meant to do. It’s a gift to wake up each day excited to go to work, and I’m so grateful for this path.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a licensed esthetician in Texas, and I’ve been in the aesthetics field since 2017. Currently, I serve as the lead medical aesthetician at Perfect Touch Medspa, where I manage everything from overseeing employees to training on devices and performing nearly every service we offer. My treatments range from facials, body contouring, laser hair removal, and skin resurfacing lasers to ablative lasers, neurotoxin injections, skin tightening treatments, cryotherapy, tattoo removal, and chemical peels.
What sets me apart is my dedication to thorough, honest consultations. I don’t believe in pushing products or treatments—instead, I focus on educating my clients. I freely share everything I’ve learned, from skincare tips to personal techniques, to empower my clients on their skincare journey. My goal is for clients to understand what to expect, the importance of their at-home care, and how internal health impacts their skin’s appearance.
If we can both be open and realistic about our goals, I truly believe we can achieve amazing results. There are times when I simply provide information during a consultation, and that’s enough. When they’re ready, they often come back because they know I genuinely have their best interests at heart. I’m incredibly proud of the trust my clients place in me—many have been with me since I started eight years ago, and their loyalty and positive feedback mean the world to me.
What makes me most proud is the impact I’ve had on people’s confidence and self-care. I genuinely care about each client I meet, and it’s fulfilling to see them feel as good about themselves as I feel about my own skin. Helping others feel beautiful and empowered is why I love what I do.
