Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Dominguez
Michael, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
It all started in May of 2021 when a new album called “Scaled and Icy” was released by a band named Twenty One Pilots. Despite its mixed reviews amongst the fanbase, it genuinely inspired me to peruse a passion in creating music. I decided to put out a few songs and let them sit while id occasionally perform once every few months. no promotion. no ads. just me going to perform at a local bar. If i wanted to make this work, I needed to figure out a plan. Fast forward to January 2025, I decided to really put everything I got into this career and try to make it work. Since then I’ve promoted everyday, Performed multiple times already this year, and released a new song every month, all while building my brand. People coming to see me perform wasn’t something I was always so sure of, but I’m very grateful to say that it is working out so far. And it’s nowhere near done yet.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not been a smooth road whatsoever. I am trying to build a fanbase from the ground up with just myself, instruments, and backing tracks on stage. It’s been a constant struggle with how to get people engaged and excited for a one man show. Money and costs for the shows/production has also been a struggle. There has been many sacrifices I have had to make to make sure it’s at least entertaining.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
My name is Michael, and I make music. I specialize in creating creative songs, hooks, and melodies. Im most proud of how far I have came so far. It hasn’t been easy and I’d like to think I am doing alright and everything will smooth out within time. What sets me apart from others is the way I put on a show and tell a story of my mental health through my music.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
The role of good luck and bad luck have both played a part in this journey.
For example,
I was very lucky to book certain venues such as Paper Tiger, and Vibes Underground, when most bands struggle with trying to get a response from them. I’m forever grateful for that. I am also very lucky to have people listen to my music and engage with it as much as they do.
But with good luck comes bad luck…
I’ve certainly had bad luck with some shows I do. One time I had put so much effort in producing a engaging show for 50 new people who hadn’t heard of me and it all fell apart last second as everything was messing up on stage. Truly an embarrassing time haha!
But i am lucky to have learned from these past trials and to build a solution for them.
