Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisa Posada-Soto.
Hi Lisa, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I am where I am today because I had a desire to pursue a career that would allow me to live the life I wanted to. Working in the service department of a car dealership, I was underpaid, overworked, not respected, and left with little time at the end of the day for my family. Since starting my career as a real estate agent, I’ve been able to take charge of both my personal and professional life, and gain a new perspective on what it takes to be an entrepreneur.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
When starting your own business, you will quickly learn who your real supporters are. It hurts to have someone who you thought to be close to you fail to give you a chance. However, people who truly appreciate the hard work you do for them will stand by you and help you flourish.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Every day is different. I go into my office and start reaching out to clients who have raised their hand and said, ” I would like help buying or selling a home. ” Depending on my and their schedule they can either come into my office or we can meet at a coffee shop to discuss further. My day consists of calling strangers, knocking on their doors to see if they are interested in selling. Writing personalized letters to family and friends reminding them I am in real estate and I can assist with a ton of non-real estate related things. Some coordinate public & private events pertaining to educating clients on what it takes to buy a home. I have to manage my own administrative work, social media accounts, marketing, preparing documents for presentations. There is so much behind the curtain work that Real Estate agents have to do to maintain our career, including continuing education. Right now, I specialize in residential real estate which consist of, buying selling, apartment locating, rental properties. I do have a few commercial clients and investor clients. I am most proud of the overall process of my career, it is not easy at all. I have learned so much and have met lots of wonderful and inspiring people. That’s what gets me going every morning, “Who am I going to meet today.” 🙂 What sets me apart from other agents, I genuinely care are everyone, I strive to do my best and put the needs of others first. I have dedicated my life to my family, career and growing my network. I take proud in those that do great work and I want others to come up with me. I am not threatened by others’ success because as an entrepreneur I know for a fact how hard they had to work to get where they are. I love to learn and I will continue to do so so for the rest of my life.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
Even in the smallest everyday life of things, Always, always go the extra mile. It will take you further than you ever imagined.
