Rising Stars: Meet Kenya Jones of San Antonio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kenya Jones.

Hi Kenya, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’m originally from Inglewood, California, but I relocated to San Antonio, Texas about a year and a half ago. After the passing of my first cousin—someone who meant the world to me—I wanted to find a way to keep his memory alive. We were both die-hard sports fanatics, and I knew that opening a sports bar would be the perfect tribute to him.

Sports have a way of bringing people together, and I’ve always believed that everyone connects with some kind of sport. Beyond that, I’ve always been into entertainment and naturally love being around people. I’m a people person at heart, and I knew that starting this bar would be more than just a business—it would be a way for me to create a space where folks could come together for good food, great conversation, and a shared love for the game.

I truly believe that God has blessed me with the gift to connect with others, and this venture is just one of the ways I hope to use those skills. Whether it’s through laughter, community, or simply cheering on a favorite team, my goal is to reach people and create something that feels bigger than just a bar—it’s about connection, passion, and legacy.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
But the road hasn’t been easy. There have been plenty of financial hurdles, times I felt alone in the process, and moments where I didn’t have the support I hoped for. Doing everything by myself was tough—mentally, emotionally, and financially. I’m incredibly grateful to my parents and the close friends who helped in any way they could. Their support meant everything, especially in the hardest times.

Being new to San Antonio also made it challenging to build a strong audience. Trying to establish something in a city where you’re not from can feel isolating—but I never let that stop me. On top of that, dealing with city permits and red tape was a headache all on its own. But even through the stress and setbacks, I kept going.

What’s kept me grounded is my faith. I know God didn’t bring me this far to leave me. Every obstacle I’ve faced has only made me more determined, and I truly believe that the skills, vision, and heart He blessed me with are meant to reach others. This bar isn’t just a place to watch sports—it’s a tribute, a dream, and a symbol of resilience.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
eing an entrepreneur is in my blood—it’s who I’ve always been. Over the years, I’ve owned a trucking company, a catering business, and even ran an entertainment company. I’ve always had that drive to create, build, and provide something valuable to others. For me, success isn’t just about money—it’s about the impact I can make and the smiles I can bring to people’s faces.

Making people happy truly makes me happy. I have a big heart, and anyone who knows me or has worked with me can feel that in everything I do. I’m not the type to break your pockets—I’m the type who wants to help you get where you’re going. Whether that’s through a hot plate of food, a good vibe at the bar, or just a conversation that lifts your spirit, I’m here for it.

More than anything, I believe in motivating others. I’ve been through a lot, but I use those experiences to speak life into people. I love giving motivational talks, sharing wisdom, and helping others tap into their own purpose and potential. My goal isn’t just to win—it’s to bring people with me, to inspire, and to leave a legacy that’s about more than just business—it’s about love, faith, and community.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
Looking ahead, my vision stretches far beyond just one location. Over the next 5 to 10 years, I plan to open several more sports bars—not just in San Antonio, but in other communities where I can continue to spread the same energy, hospitality, and purpose that started it all.

But more than expanding a business, I want to build something that truly gives back. I’m working toward launching a nonprofit organization that will directly serve the community—offering support, mentorship, resources, and motivation to those who need it most. Whether it’s helping young people find their path, supporting small business dreams, or just being a listening ear, I want to be a positive force that makes a real difference.

At the end of the day, it’s not just about the sports, the food, or the fun—it’s about creating something that matters. I want everything I build to reflect who I am: driven by purpose, rooted in faith, and built on love for the people.
