Today we’d like to introduce you to Justin Herbelin.
Hi Justin, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I grew up around real estate, watching my parents flip homes, and after college I became the assistant to a top-producing agent. Eventually I ventured out on my own, experiencing both success and setbacks before reinventing myself in a completely different market and launching the career I had always envisioned. Although the opportunities, mentors, and momentum were incredible, home eventually called me back before that city became too much like the one I had left. Today, I get to do exactly what I love. It’s especially meaningful knowing that I’m now surrounded by the very kind of professionals I once admired from afar—a reminder to my younger self that dreams really can come true.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has been a meandering path with plenty of long walks off short tangents. Along the way, I’ve learned that success isn’t just about closing deals—it’s about finding balance, remembering that no matter how much you know, there’s always more to learn, and never forgetting how short the distance can be from the limo to the gutter. Staying grounded, serving my clients well, and maintaining strong relationships with my colleagues has required equal parts humility, perseverance, and knowing when to hold on and when to let go. I don’t think the road ever completely smooths out, and I don’t believe the struggles ever truly disappear. What changes is your perspective. In the end, I don’t think you ever really feel success—you feel the journey toward your goals.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a real estate agent living a dream life I built by design—one that has unfolded like the best things in life: wild, free, unexpected, and right on time. I’m most proud of earning a place among some of the best professionals in my market. What truly sets me apart, though, isn’t a sales statistic or marketing strategy—it’s the relationships I build with my clients and the trust they place in me every step of the way.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
For much of the last 23 years, it has been easy to feel confident predicting what comes next. What I’ve learned, though, is that my next transaction is never guaranteed, and my last one could very well have been my last. That perspective keeps me grateful and grounded. I believe our industry is shaped by the collective efforts of buyers and sellers, the agents who represent them, and the vendors who continually invest in and support our profession. There will always be shifts, changes, and new trends. Rather than pretending to be seasoned sailors with all the answers, we’re far better off adjusting our sails to meet whatever comes next.
