Today we’d like to introduce you to Julianna Rankin.
Hi Julianna, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve had an inner love for music my entire life. I sang in talent shows, played piano by ear, and dreamed about doing this my whole childhood. I didn’t know that I actually could. I realized the potential I had during my senior year at Texas A&M. I taught myself to play guitar and began writing songs. One thing led to another, and here I am. I credit how far I’ve come today to years of hard work, dedication, and putting myself in front of opportunities when I could. Along with that, the support I have received from fellow artists in the music community has made an incredible impact. They push me to improve daily, and I’m blessed to call many of them great friends.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road has been rough at times—there’s no denying that. I’ve learned to take each peak and valley for what they are. The peaks are an opportunity to celebrate the hard work that has been rewarded, and the valleys are a time to stay focused, working for the next peak.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
At heart, I truly believe I’m a songwriter. Also, I think I am a singer and performer, but the immediate reward that follows creating a new song is hard to beat. I am most proud of the hard work I have put in to get where I am today. This industry requires tremendous sacrifice if you want to be successful.
Can you talk to us about the role of luck?
While plenty of luck is to be had, you must put yourself in situations and environments to find it. Work hard, and don’t pass on opportunity when it comes your way.
