Rising Stars: Meet Heather Aelvoet of San Antonio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Heather Aelvoet.

Hi Heather, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Heather Aelvoet and I am the owner and creator of The Light Healing House. It all began in 2016 I found myself 100lbs heavier. Crying in the shower every morning, crying in the car and silently crying myself to sleep every night. What I ate in private…I wore in public. It took every bit of strength I had to get out of bed. If I didn’t have kids I probaly wouldn’t have. But I knew they needed the tiny bit I had left to give. I was walking around barely holding it together. Faking a smile. So one day I was sick and tired of being sick and tired. I took a walk up Comanche Hill on Nacodoches in San Antonio, Texas
with my daughter whom was in highschool at the time and did a meditation. From that day forward I did some form of walking and meditation. If it wasnt at the park it was parking far at the grocery store, Taking the stairs instead of the elevator. Even if I only had a few minutes in the car to meditate i did everyday.. Eventually I started changing my eating habits and taking all kinds of courses and joining groups to be my healthiest self mind body and soul. Life did not get easier. It actually got a lot harder. I stuck through it continuting to move my body and slow my mind daily. One day I had a moment where I realized I had lost so much weight, I changed an incredble amount mentaly but deep down there was still a lump. A heavy bag of rocks I didn’t need to carry anymore. I went through an intense holistic 90 day program where I went through hypnosis, Reiki, EFT, reporgraming, nervous system reset and so much more. I obtained an immense amount of tools to use. I came out of that program feeling so light and ready. The only thing that was required of me was to be ready. I wanted everyone to feel as incredible as I did. So I went on a journey to obtain certificates and education in the modilates that had helped me feel so incredible. Along the way I dreamed of a healing house where others that were hurting as deeply as I could find our light again. Welcome to The Light Healing House. 🤎

When I dreamed about creating this space, I never wanted it to simply be an office where people came for appointments.

I wanted to create a house for healing and community.

A place where you can walk through the door and immediately feel permission to soften.

Here, you’ll find my private healing room, where I offer one-on-one experiences such as Reiki and QHHT, as well as our larger event space where we gather for meditation, sound healing, Reiki, yoga, workshops, classes, ceremonies, retreats, and community events.

But what makes The Light Healing House special isn’t what’s inside the rooms.

It’s what happens between the people inside them.

Connection.

Community.

Being witnessed.

Learning something new about yourself.

Meeting another beautiful human you may never have crossed paths with otherwise.

Laughing. Crying. Breathing. Moving. Resting. Growing.

This space was created with the intention that healing doesn’t always have to feel heavy.

Sometimes healing looks like sitting in stillness.

Sometimes it looks like releasing something you’ve carried for years.

And sometimes healing looks like drinking tea, laughing with new friends, moving your body, and realizing…

I feel like myself again.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t always been a smooth road. There have been seasons of divorce, heartbreak, broken relationships, losing friendships, and distance within family relationships. There were moments when life looked completely different from what I thought it was supposed to look like, and I had to learn how to let go, rebuild, and find myself again.

But woven throughout the difficult seasons has also been so much good—beautiful relationships, incredible people, love, laughter, growth, motherhood, friendship, community, and moments that reminded me just how beautiful life can be.

Looking back, I don’t think I would erase the hard parts. They taught me so much about myself, about forgiveness, boundaries, compassion, and what it means to truly love myself. I learned that healing isn’t about creating a life where nothing difficult ever happens. It’s about learning how to move through those experiences without losing yourself in them.

The road hasn’t been smooth, but it has been meaningful. Every season—the beautiful ones and the heartbreaking ones—has helped lead me to the woman I am today and to the work I now feel called to share with others.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
For the past 14 years, I have worked as a vascular ultrasound technologist, and I truly believe that part of my life has shaped so much of who I am today. I have spent years sitting beside people during some of their most vulnerable moments—listening to them, caring for them, and learning that sometimes what a person needs most is simply to feel safe, seen, and heard.

That same love for people eventually grew into another part of my purpose and led me to create The Light Healing House and She Is Light Healing.

Today, my work brings together so many of the things I love. I am a Reiki Master, Level 2 QHHT practitioner, EFT practitioner, meditation guide, and facilitator of experiences centered around connection, self-discovery, nervous-system regulation, and coming home to yourself. I offer Reiki, QHHT, EFT, meditation, group experiences, classes, retreats, and community gatherings such as Sunday Soul Bloom. The Light Healing House has also become a space where other practitioners can bring their gifts into the community through yoga, sound healing, movement, creativity, and other wellness practices.

But if you asked me what I specialize in, I would probably say creating a space where people feel safe enough to soften.

I don’t want someone to walk through my doors and feel like there is something wrong with them that needs to be fixed. I want them to remember the goodness that is already within them. Whether we are sitting together in a Reiki session, exploring the subconscious through QHHT, tapping through an emotion with EFT, meditating, drinking tea, laughing, crying, or simply talking—I meet people where they are.

What I am most proud of is the community that is growing around this work. I am proud when someone tells me they feel lighter. I’m proud when people begin trusting themselves again. I’m proud when someone comes to an event alone and leaves having made a new connection. I’m proud of creating a space where people from different backgrounds can gather and simply be human together.

And I think what sets me apart is my heart. I genuinely love people. I don’t believe this work is something I simply do, it is how I live. My medical career taught me to pay attention to the physical body, my own life experiences taught me compassion, and my spiritual journey taught me to look beyond the surface. I bring all of those pieces with me into the room.

At the heart of everything I do is one intention: to remind people that there is so much more love, light, strength, and wisdom within them than they may realize—and sometimes we just need a safe space, a little support, and another human being to help us remember.

What makes you happy?
What makes me happy? Honestly, the little things—and love in all of its forms.

My family, my husband, my children and grandchildren, my friendships, being outside in nature, hiking, laughing until my stomach hurts, creating something with my hands, sharing a meal, sitting in meaningful conversation, and being surrounded by people I love. I have learned that some of the most ordinary moments can become the most extraordinary when you are truly present for them.

Helping others also brings me an incredible amount of joy. There is something so beautiful about watching someone begin to see themselves differently—to recognize their own strength, trust themselves a little more, or simply take a deep breath and feel safe enough to be exactly who they are.

Community makes me happy. Bringing people together makes me happy. Watching strangers become friends, seeing people support one another, and creating spaces where we can put down our titles and our stories for a moment and just connect as human beings—that fills my heart.

And I think the “why” is simple: I love being alive. I love experiencing this life in all of its messy, beautiful, heartbreaking, hilarious, magical little moments. The older I get, the more I realize happiness isn’t something I need to chase. It’s something I notice, create, share, and choose to be present for.

For me, happiness is love—and getting to give it away somehow always seems to create more of it.
