Rising Stars: Meet Georgina Del Real

Today we’d like to introduce you to Georgina Del Real.

Hi Georgina, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Makeup has always been my passion. Growing up, I would be fascinated with my mom’s makeup collection. In High School, my mom and friends would ask me to do their makeup. I love that makeup transforms and brings out the inner glow in all of us. In mid-2021, my friend designed my logo. December of 2021 I realized “Life is too short so why not do what you love.” I had the courage to launch my Instagram @glam_bygeo and have since booked a wedding, a photoshoot, special event makeup session and one on one makeup class.

This is a beautiful journey and I’m excited for the adventures to come.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
When starting a business or anything for that matter there is no smooth sailing. There have been plenty of learning curves already such as time management. I work full time and I’m also a part time student so juggling all my roles can be tough.

I did connect with other makeup artists (MUA) to learn from their experience but I have to remind myself not to compare my journey to theirs.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a makeup artist and I specialize in bridal looks. There is no better feeling than giving a glam look to a bride on her special day. Allowing her to feel and look her best on the one day she will cherish forever. What sets me apart from others is my technique and passion. I love connecting with people and bringing out their best. What better way to do this than letting them vent away in my pink chair and while I pamper them.

I’m most proud of investing in my learning so I can offer my clients my very best. I’ve taken a 1:1 class with another makeup artist and plan on taking a master class in March.

Most of my looks consist of soft glam because I want my client’s natural beauty to shine through so they can get compliments on how beautiful they look and not just their makeup. When they are sitting in my pink chair it’s all about them.

Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
Covid has taught me that life is too short and you never really know what’s going to happen so why not bet on yourself. While quarantined I had a moment to pause and think to myself “I can do this. I have what it takes.” So I finally went for it.

I’ve also realized that social media is the perfect channel to put myself out there. I’m excited to gain more followers and grow my client book.
