Today we’d like to introduce you to Figure Trey
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I first started when I was going to school in Austin messing around with my good friend King’s equipment making songs just for fun along with my other friend Luwop but my passion for music has always been there ever since I was young listening to all kinds of music at my father’s house. I’ll never forget spending a few weeks at my brothers Lil Brady & Drew Bravo’s house and they had a studio we would be working on music nonstop which made me really believe that I could make good music for other people to enjoy. I’ll also never forget when my dad got me my first laptop I fell in love with downloading Mixtapes & always listening to new music. I feel like those times from my younger days really fueled me to become the artist that I am today
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
This road has been far from easy! Constantly falling in and out of inspiration & going through trails and tribulations outside of the art. Things like people not understanding my vision, investing a lot of money into this without seeing immediate results, taking risks that many others may not get or disagree with & dealing with individuals who weren’t as passion about this art as I am which damaged a lot of my relationships with others. Now a days everyone makes music therefore it’s really hard to convince others that you’re just flat out different from the rest. Many people do this for materials I do this to leave a mark & inspire people after me.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My name is Figure Trey & I am an artist out of San Antonio, Texas. When I say the term artist I want people to know that I am not a “rapper” I’m an artist….i make art. I feel like my sound, pain, & testimony sets me apart from others. My music is just flat out “different” from the normal sound in San Antonio. I’m most proud of the small fan base that I’ve created! I’ve done things that most artists have yet to do in my career so far. Things like having a label meeting which was a big accomplishment for me at the time. I’m just getting started so that experience let me know that I can do this at the highest level. It’s only up from here.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
Just be yourself don’t try and be anyone else but yourself. In this world we have a lot of followers and not enough leaders. Music is one of those things that you learn as you go. There is no wrong or right way of doing this. Do it YOUR way! Everyone’s path is different.
