Rising Stars: Meet Emily And Adriana Terrazas of West side San Antonio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Emily And Adriana Terrazas.

Hi Emily and Adriana, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Our story starts back in 2020, right before the start of the pandemic. Both of us had planned Adriana’s sweet 16 on our own, found a love for the party industry, and thought about creating our own party business. We were brainstorming ideas for businesses in early February, then the COVID shutdowns hit in March, and we put the idea of parties to rest so we could respect our community.

During that time, we would volunteer with the food bank, never wanting to stop bringing food to San Antonio. We learned to bake, to cook better than before, and to serve others, and eventually, in late 2024, once there were no longer restrictions due to COVID, our business brainstorming came back. It was then that we thought to mix our love for biology with our love for food, and came up with the name Snackolysis, derived from Glycolysis, the breaking down of sugar.

As first-generation students and sisters, with the hopes of being physicians one day, we loved the idea of bringing the community together through our love for science and making others happy with food. We built, sanded, painted, and stickered a cart, and after bloody knuckles and splinters in our feet, Snackolysis was born.

Snackolysis serves everyone at all sorts of events, from pop-ups to cultural festivals, weddings to birthdays, and even corporate events. We bring fruits, vegetables, churros, cakes, cookies, chamoy delicacies, Dubai chocolate, elotes, raspas, and even rolled ice cream to city-wide events. Essentially, we bring the party to the party, making our way into the hearts of San Antonians through food!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Starting from scratch is never easy. You never really know if people will book you, or even think to look your way.

There would be events where absolutely no one showed up, so we would post on Facebook groups to give away free food from those events. Yet, despite those discouraging moments, we knew we had to persevere. Although those times were rough, we still found a sense of community in the vendors we have worked with, trading and networking, building a community through our food.

It was also hard to balance our work, school, pre-med activities, and business all at the same time, but our passion to serve is what drives us towards the next event.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Both of us have worked in retail pharmacy for many years. This has helped our passion of community and built our good attitude for customer service. Our customer service directly reflects to our business. We pride ourselves on our fast turnaround times, creative ideas, and willingness to work with customers and kindness.

Outside of work, we are the family members who cannot stop posting their travel adventures. We love to hike, explore different cultures, and try local cuisines so that we can really take in the beauty of diversity and the population as a whole. It is so encouraging to see how different communities have come together and persevered through life-altering events such as natural disasters or other major historical events. Through our love for people and the beauties of life, we plan to explore more, bring happiness to our surroundings, and bring pride to our Mexican heritage.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
As kids continue to be born, couples decide to commit to their love, and people hit milestones in life, parties will continue to be thrown. There will always be an opportunity to be included in people’s journeys. No matter how big or small, we are always extremely grateful to be a part of people’s events.
