Rising Stars: Meet Diana Aleman

Today we’d like to introduce you to Diana Aleman

Hi Diana, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
If I’m being honest, most photographers share the same backstory as to how they ended up in this field. “It started out when I was a child & received my first camera… the rest is history”.
Although, that was also my case. I remember going on a school field trip & simply snapping away at anything & anyone that was in my frame. When it came down to developing those images, I felt so proud to have taken everyone of them all on my own. Some of which I still have! However, that’s not why I intended to find my purpose from this role.
In 2017 I fell in love, married & by 2018 I had my first born. My entire life changed without me even planning any of it out. Believe me, I had completely different plans for my future not knowing that starting a family and growing in my faith was God’s main goal for me.
When I began photographing my growing family, friends, family & strangers began to invite me in to capture their families. I realize now, it’s not the title that gives you purpose. I’ve been a school photographer for lifetouch and that wasn’t the best phase for me. It’s the purpose that you carry out in your career & in your home that gives it meaning.
Today, I am a photographer because I choose to freeze those feel good moments and fulfill my purpose as a Child of God by sharing what He has shared with me through my lens. As long as I have the life for it & a good lense, we’ll keep doing just that!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The journey has never been easy. My priorities have always been at home with my family which brings inconsistency in some seasons. Nonetheless, my loyal clients keep me going every year.
As my girls get older and we’re no longer homeschooling, it’s become a lot easier for me to focus on my business and really give more of myself to helping Sublime & Ideal Photography grow.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
My specialty is working directly with growing families. However, I never back down from a challenge. I have captured sports photography, school portraits, business events, maternity photoshoots, newborn, cake smash and now even weddings.
Now the reason why families choose me as their photographer isn’t because of the quality of my image all the time but rather the experience they get from having me. If your children are shy or hate posing for cameras, I’ll play, dance, sing, fall or do whatever it takes to make sure they have a great time.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
If you are wanting to try something new in general, just go all in!
With photography, you can do just that by carrying your camera everywhere you go & creating art on the spot. Also, don’t over think the business details. Proper branding will come with time, for now, just go capture your many points of view!
