Today we’d like to introduce you to Christian Talavera.
Hi Christian, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Hello, my name is Chris. I was born in California and lived there for about 13 years; my family moved us to Hawaii, where I first picked up a ukulele. I would pick notes I liked and make chords that resonated with me. From Hawaii, my family moved to Texas, where I now reside. Growing up, I listened to a lot of Pop music and some rock( Britney Spears, Backstreet Boys, you name it! haha). I slowly got into much Alternative rock music ( Story of the year, The used, Underoath). But also, living on the island, I listened to many Reggae, which stuck with me. All these bands and artists paved the way for me musically. In 2007 I had the itch to start a band, so I took to the interweb and found some cool guys with that same vision. We called ourselves forever, I am (Hardcore synth pop). As the years went on, we wanted to up our game and go the same route but better and more mature, so we created the next band, Lifelike. But from there, I wanted to return to my roots and create something that I felt represented my soul with absolutely no ceiling. So I quit the previous band to create Prsnt (spelled PR-ES-ENT). I started writing in 2018 when I released Prsnts 1st track, “Dirty Dishes,” which also has a music video. I also knew I wanted to avoid being n stage by myself, so I decided to take to the internet again and find guys with the same vision of playing music on stage. So I found JD, Stephen, and Raymond. They are the coolest guys on earth!
You wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been smooth?
It has been smooth because of everything I learned in the previous bands about what not to do. But of course, there are days when I feel sad for not creating the next song, haha.
Thanks for sharing that. So, you could tell us a bit more about your work.
I currently am still making music as Prsnt while playing gigs. I specialize in Songwriting, Mixing, Mastering, and Engineering the song from front to back. I’m known for being understanding. I am most proud of not quitting.
We’d like to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you.
I believe in creating your luck.
