Today we’d like to introduce you to Cassandra Ramirez
Hi Cassandra, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Don’t even know where to start but here we go lol, so it all started in my senior year of high school I was to the point of almost graduating from high school and was clueless on what path I was going to take after since my senior graduation was getting super close, eventually my counselor called me in to go in to see what where my plans after high school and at that moment is when I told her I wanted to become part of the beauty industry since I felt that college was not my thing, I didn’t want to go into debt on something I wasn’t even going to enjoy. So she recommended Paul Mitchell, she said go take a tour you will love it, days later I scheduled a tour along with my parents and fell in love with the school so much, so that was definitely I looking forward after graduating, fast forward starting I was able to step into a world where I was convinced I was finally were I belonged. Cosmetology changed my life it was a stage in my life where I was discovering myself as a person and talents, I didn’t even know excited. In my years of school, I was never involved in activities and in cosmo I was enrolled in all type of activities, I got to be part of fashion shows, design and come up with costumes from scratch, helped the school being involved in activities that created funds for the school, and so many more things. Every Thursday we had a famous guest artist to educate us weather it was a barber, eyelash extension artist, hair color or cutting artist, one day we had a bridal makeup artist at the time her daughter was enrolled in school as well and I loved the way she showcased her makeup skills and followed her on social media , fast forward after finishing my hours I went to different salons and they just didn’t give me the reason to stay I was in search of a hair salon and came across a post from the makeup artist that had performed the bridal makeup in school so I reach out to her and messaged her so the next day I went to see her and walked out with the job she had a full service hair salon and would do makeup on the weekends which was what I was looking for, I started working there and picked up my makeup artist skills pretty quick but was also a stylist there I grew in so many ways there learning the business side of how to manage a hair salon and also how to deal with having phone conversations all day with clients booking their weddings of Quinceaneras, prom, homecoming makeup and hair services etc.,,, learning how to handle great customer service, I was glad I was able to experience all these things because I knew one day I wanted to have my own business, but I knew I needed to get the experience first from 2019 to 2023 which also had the opportunity of building my portfolio, After that other companies and makeup freelancers started reaching out to me to help them specially since I started to develop my hairstyling skills creating updos and different hairstyles then from there everything has been word of mouth, just referrals also started networking with different photographers too, wedding planners, partnering with venues and work just became the dream I always dreamed of, being the owner of my time, having a flexible schedule, and more than anything after having my daughter it was something I always wanted to be a present mother while I also worked in something I was passionate about. I realized I was getting booked more and more that decided it was time to register my business as an official business with an LLC . To now focusing on weddings and keep growing as a business everyday, so now I look back and see how eventually everything is a process and I understand life can’t open new doors and new opportunities if we haven’t lived yet the experiences needed to keep moving forward, like they say just trust the process and keep showing up and keep planting those seeds, the hard work will pay off soon or later to having a prosperous business. And well this is my story.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There was definitely a lot of obstacles a lot of self-doubt, fear, nobody in my family has own any type of business here in the U.S so there was nobody who I could reach out to for advice and the times I did they would be negative thoughts the what if this what if that, so I had to reach out for mentorship from real business owners, when I gave birth to my daughter I was off for a whole entire year that I was slowly falling into depression since I don’t consider myself as a stay at home mom and always used to being on the go, that year being off did affect me in ways were I had these thoughts on if I could consider continuing what I was doing, this career can be so busy that now it’s easy to have the mom guilty feeling being away from your kids because were busy working moms. I would say that had been by far one of the most challenging things I’ve felt when I became a mom, sacrificing things here in there mainly weekends and missing out on family outings and sending my daughter with my family when I can’t due to being present in my business
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Well as of now my main focus is Makeup and Hair , I specialize in weddings, Quinceaneras, sweet 16 and mainly any type of event, I work with photographers helping with makeup and hair for business headshots or also do production work, which are long hrs of work doing touch ups here and there for companies who work creating content for their business and im there making sure everyone looks good infront of the camera, What im known for is for being an inspiration to other women through quotes I share in my reels, I consider having a entrepreneur spirit in me, I love to give advise when they ask me for it. Im proud of how far iv’e come along the fact of not having experince at all in this field whe i started and how i eventually made it work out day by day and continue to learn something new everyday. And how proud i make my parents with this path i decided to take on and putting all my effort into it. What sets me apart is my customers service, i would say the way i interview my clients have them speak everythi g the want so we can be in the same page eventually everyone who i get to meet feels super confortable with me they even tend to fall asleep while sitting in my chair and makes me feel good that they are feeling relaxed,
Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
An advise If anything would you have to believe in yourself before anybody does always, have the confidence to know you were born for greatness, and if god planted the business idea in your head he will give and bring you the clients with your hard work.
