Rising Stars: Meet Camila Sanchez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Camila Sanchez.

Camila Sanchez

Hi Camila, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I am a cell phone collector on YouTube, a Discord user, and an Internet Archive user. Though I mainly used YouTube, I started my channel in 2012, originally making gaming videos first, then switched to GoAnimate videos; that channel soon terminated in 2016. The start of my current channel was in July 2018. Since then, I have become a phone collector, a collector of stuff from my childhood, and a mascot enthusiast (hoping to one day become a mascot performer at the University of Wisconsin). Over recent years, I have been a person who also likes fursuits, as I am a furry, and a fan of the British children’s show “Poppy Cat,” which was based on the books by Lara Jones.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Well, not really, but I have encountered drama with a few people online; some of the drama involved my personality. What people have usually seen in my content is phones from the 2000s that people used to have, in addition to other content as well. In the case of comments, I once remember getting a comment saying: “What is this man, a big fat man child that loves a bandana-wearing cat?” this ticked me off, and I soon deleted the comment, I get it people have their own opinions, and they shall respect and handle other people’s opinions on things they like or dislike. And besides, what does this have to do with my life? Eh, who cares?

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Most of the time, I have purchased phones from eBay to do future videos involving them, but on occasions, I do other things; like one time, I created an entire history video based on Happix, the mascot of Pixnet, which I got inspiration from YouTuber Nathan Spies to make the history video. At times, I mainly focus on phone collecting, and at some point in my life, I had shown games on live streams on Discord, but my computer one day decided not to stream it well, which made me not stream things at all. Other things I have do include collecting stuffed animals (mainly those from Aurora World, including famous lines like “Palm Pals” and “YooHoo & Friends”); at other times, I collect stuffed animals, mainly those from my favorite IPs, including the Poppy Cat plush I own, which took forever for me to get.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
While I have never been to San Antonio for the most part, back when I lived in Texas with my mom, who, since 2011, had moved out to live with my dad in Nashville, TN, my mom moved to Madison, TN. Since then, I visit her occasionally, as she still had most of my childhood things there, like some of the Hamtaro figures I remember buying on Atamaii.com and some of the old DVDs and VHS tapes I used to watch all the time, and my old Slim PS2, which at my current house, have a Fat PS2. But looking back at San Antonio, it could be a great place to live; I don’t have a reason to hate the city, but still, I have plans to move to Madison, Wisconsin, one day to attend the University of Wisconsin for my future college.
