Rising Stars: Meet Aryadne Soriano

Today we’d like to introduce you to Aryadne Soriano.

Hi Aryadne, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m from Brazil. I am a wife and cat mom. I am passionate about a healthy lifestyle, including yoga, a healthy diet, running, swimming and workouts. I graduated as a Physical therapist in Brazil and I used to work at an aesthetic clinic doing Lymphatic drainage massage for post plastic surgery.

Subsequently, I studied Pilates and started working at a Studio Pilates that I became a partner later. Being constantly connected with sports practitioners at the gym and sports events, I decided to sell fitness clothes for women. In November 2017, I met the love of my life, and we got married in July 2018.

During my immigration process I had to wait in Brazil for basically two years and a half to finally stay together with my husband, who was waiting for me in the U.S. Not knowing how long I would have to stay in my country, I closed my clothing business and kept teaching Pilates.

Due to the pandemic, I left Studio Pilates and started teaching online. In December 2020, I got my visa, and then I moved to San Antonio, Texas, with my cat, Gatão. Then, I started working at my husband’s company doing office tasks, etc. In January 2021, I found a gym to return to my fitness lifestyle. Besides workouts and swimming, I started practicing Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga with Diane R. Benvenuto. I used to practice yoga in Brasil to help me to prevent injury since I was a runner.

However, my passion for yoga increased even more after starting practicing Ashtanga Yoga while I was healing a calf injury from my running routine and inspired me to start my yoga teacher training in September 2021. I graduated as a Yoga Teacher in December 2021. It was the best decision I have ever made for myself.

Now beyond sharing my lifestyle, I also started creating yoga content to share all of the good things that yoga has brought to my life. I aspire to teach yoga classes online. Besides that, I plan to teach yoga in outdoor spaces for the community. I hope I can contribute more to those around me and the people around the world.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The fact my husband and I had to live apart for so long.

Not to mention my recovering time after I got Tibial Plateau fracture (Joint Fractured ) in November 2018 a few days before my 2nd sprint triathlon. The recovery was tough and even using crutches for two months I didn’t give up to keep teaching Pilates. I just was able to run basically one year later my 1st race after my knee injury.

The toughest time was when my Dad passed away in July 2021 and be living so far to say the last goodbye. The challenge to start my yoga teacher training in English without being fluent yet. The frustrating moments I had during my YTT for not knowing the specific vocabulary to cuing the movements when I was “teaching” the other students. By the way, I am still working to improve my cues for my yoga classes.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
As a health content creator I partnered with brands that have been reaching out to collaborate with them. Besides that, I work at my husband’s company.

I am also in the process of starting a new carrier as a yoga teacher. My focus is creating a business model to start teaching yoga online all due to the new reality of the pandemic to those who keep working home office. Besides that teaching yoga for the community, especially the friendly running groups that helped me to achieve my 1st Half Marathon in December 2021.

I keep studying yoga and recently I had the opportunity to attend an Ashtanga workshop with one of the Ashtanga renowned Yogi Tim Feldmann. I am proud of myself for getting my 1st certification (yoga teacher) in a language that is I am not fluent in yet living here in the United States for such a short period of time (last than a year).

Living a healthy lifestyle over the years, surpassed a bad knee injury in November 2018 and came back for my sports practicing even stronger, completing my 1st Half Marathon sub 2, have done my graduation as a Physical therapist, the experience with Pilates, selling clothes, and keep connecting with people made me get where I am and directed me for a beautiful path with my yoga journey.

Not to mention the amazing things yoga and meditation have been doing for me. It’s life-changing in many ways. It changed the way I look at yoga, at myself, at the world, and the people around me.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
My husband has always been my biggest supporter. All the efforts he put to see me during the immigration process. He also was my biggest supporter when my Dad passed away in the middle of last year. Not to mention that he helped me with my tasks in the office during my yoga teacher training, this way was possible to have more time to dedicated to the YTT.

I am thankful for my close friends in Brazil that supported me during the immigration process and stayed by my side cheering for us. I am deeply grateful for my parents and brother. I love them. I would say that I was well supported by the other students during the 200hr YTT.

Also a big thanks to Flandirs Files, one of the YTT students that helped a lot with the cues.

Because of her, I was able to teach beautifully my 1st vinyasa flow class. Not to mention my teachers, Bill Bowe, Georgette Bisteni that believe in my capacity to be a yoga teacher. Specially my teacher Ashley Hillyer that gave me a big support during the training when I most needed.

Thank you my friend Anthony Zamora that introduced me to the friendly running groups in San Antonio. I also would like to say a special thank you to the beautiful running community.

A few words to my Dad: Wherever you are I know you are proud of your little girl. Dad your physical body is not here anymore, but you remain alive in my heart. I offer my love sending you light and prayers. I love you to the moon and back.
