Rising Stars: Meet Andrew Ayala of Lytle

Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrew Ayala.

Hi Andrew, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
From a young age I’ve always had a camera in front of me. Growing up with a photographer as my mother naturally drew me to the to explore my artistic side turning everything into a outlet of expression. when I got my first camera at 9 years old I was beyond excited. I had no clue where to start, all I knew how to do was point and click and so that’s exactly what I did. I took my camera everywhere I could and photographed anything and anyone my eyes found interesting. As I got a little older my mother began taking me with her to help out with her photoshoots, she was doing a lot of engagement and family photography at the time. It was there I learned the basics, communication, posing, lighting, settings. I would practice on the side while my mom did her thing, taking breaks to explain to me what she was doing and how to improve my photos. Moving forward to high school I started doing self portraits, I realized I could show myself through my own eyes with my photography and i wanted to share that with others. After so many portraits I felt confident enough to turn what I knew into a business. Senior portrait season was around the corner and I found it as a perfect opportunity to find clients, so I started by asking my friends if they needed pictures and before I new it I had my first paid shoot. Two years later I’ve built and established a business for myself, I’ve started to do weddings and I’ve improved more than I ever thought I could. I’m still learning with every shoot I do and I plan on growing more with my business and knowledge. I look for the opportunity’s to come and the memories to capture!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Establishing the type of photography I want to do has been the hardest part for me. I love wedding and portrait photography but I’m still so young and would love to venture into fashion and editorial photography as well as many others.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a 18 year old photographer who specializes in portrait and wedding photography. I most proud of photographing my first two weddings at just 17 and making people feel comfortable with themself in front of the camera. I find that my age and experience sets me apart from others.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Success is to thrive and flourish in something you are passionate about.
