Today we’d like to introduce you to Abel Ozuna.
Hi Abel, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
I began podcasting about 7 years ago after listening to self-publishing podcasts and my first podcast network was created to review TV shows with friends of mine from different states and countries.
After those shows were canceled, I took some time off to write a few books, and then in 2020, I decided to re-start a podcast network called Creative Central Network. My flagship podcast for the network is called The Local Influencers and on it, I interview Texas business owners, content creators, artists, musicians, and more.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road to growth has definitely not been an easy one. I’d say a lot of my struggle is working a full-time job and marketing my network and podcasts. It’s hard to work 40 hours a week and then record 6-8 podcasts a week. In addition to that, I not only record the podcasts, but I edit all of them as well. So, I’m up late recording/editing and then up early for work.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m proud of my podcast network, Creative Central Network because, after 1 year of launching, my shows are listened to in over 60 countries and have thousands of downloads. My flagship podcast, The Local Influencers, was also nominated for a local magazine’s “The Best of” list in the Coastal Bend after only a couple of seasons.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
I always tell someone who wants to podcast, write or do something creative to just do it. Quit wasting time reading about “how to” do something, quit wasting time watching those YouTube videos, and just do it. Your first show/book/piece of art will not be your best. If you’re scared of doing something, that means you’re heading in the right direction.
