Meet Will and Veronica Pritchett of Home Again Properties

Today we’d like to introduce you to Will and Veronica Pritchett.

Alright, thank you for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, how did you get started?
We followed a traditional route through college and careers, climbed our respective career ladders, and then began a small real estate investing business that allowed us to take the leap to our freedom this year. Veronica was a high school Assistant Principal, and Will was a Battalion Chief with the San Antonio Fire Department until this past April. We enjoy our freedom by traveling as often as possible and slowing down enough to appreciate the rapidly passing years that our kids are living with us. We are very aware that these days are numbered. We specialize in solving real estate problems that arise from structures that need work or the problems the owners are having. We call our company Home Again Properties because we like to take old, worn-out houses and transform them into clean, safe places that we can rent to amazing humans, which is the final step in making a house a Home Again. We also lend money to other investors from our retirement account and like to show others how they can. We are passionate about financial literacy and helping others avoid the mistakes we have made along our financial journey. Teaching is central to our mission at this point in our business. Financial independence is available to anyone, but many don’t know where to start.

Would it have been a smooth road, and what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has been a struggle to grow while working two full-time jobs and raising a young family. We grew very slowly at first, but we grew much faster after learning how to partner with private money partners.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Home Again Properties?
We are good at solving problems for distressed sellers. This is a tagline in the industry, but we would be happy to ask for a character statement from any of our past sellers. Sometimes we solve their problem with a fast sale, and sometimes we have to get creative, but we only buy if we are their best option. What sets us apart is that we show the potential sellers many options, and only some involve us. Houses are most people’s largest investments, and we want to make sure that the seller makes a decision they are happy with. We also are very good at property management of our portfolio and truly have the best tenants anyone could ask for. We want the tenants to know this is their Home and that we will do our part to make it comfortable and safe. We are proud that our tenants often need to move up to a larger house or change locations and want to rent from us again. That is customer feedback that is very meaningful to us.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
How you treat human beings is the most important thing. People will do business with you if they like you and trust you. Be someone that deserves trust. And keep your priorities in line, or as my grandfather used to say, “keep the main thing, the main thing”!
