Hi Victor, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I actually started my engraving business out of my shooting business. I also own “How To Shoot LLC “, and one of the things I did in that business, was give students a memento after they took my course. It was a metal dog tag with their name on it. I used vinyl for the name, but quickly realized it would come off to easily. My solution was to buy a laser engraver, so that it would be permanent. One thing led to another and the next thing I knew, I was making more money by engraving in side. That’s when I decided to separate the engraving part from How To Shoot LLC and created Watchdog Engraving LLC.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Not at all! With business, there will always be obstacles, but as I learned in the Marine Corps, you have to adapt and overcome to be successful.
Some struggles were finding customers (probably my biggest struggle), advertising, inventory, storage, time management (I have a full time job as well), equipment and material learning curve, and much more… but as long as I kept putting in the effort and not allowing myself to stop, I was able to over come most of the hurdles. I’m still working on some, and as I grow, I know new ones will come my way.

What are your plans for the future?
My current plans for the future are to add more machines to my business, so that may expand on what materials I can engrave. I eventually want to have my own brick and mortar store front.
I am also considering adding a mobile service. By adding that, an event planner or people in general. can hire me for their invent and provide custom gifts or mementos for their guests.
