Today we’d like to introduce you to Valerie Salgado.
Valerie, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
It all started about 7 years ago in 2015 when makeup was just a hobby of mine. I would spend my free time after work and in between school watching YouTube tutorials and teaching myself how to apply my own makeup. Over a short time my friends and family were very supportive with letting me practice on them and loved how I applied eyeshadow. After enough encouragement I soon started offering my services to my local community of Carrizo Springs, Texas and my passion for becoming a makeup artist quickly grew. I became a certified Makeup Artist on April 29, 2016. Although after delaying my makeup services and moving to San Antonio in May of 2016 to pursue my education I continued to enthusiastically learn about makeup products and techniques as I practiced my artistry on myself and friends as often as possible. I sporadically yet steadily resumed having clients throughout the years but not as consistent due to my availability with my full time job and school. I successfully graduated with my bachelor’s degree on November 30, 2020. I turned my focus towards my artistry and resumed working towards building a stronger business foundation for Valeria’s Vanity in San Antonio. On March 22, 2021 I launched my website, ValeriasVanity.com to have a creative space for my makeup artistry and showcase my client portfolio. The results from that investment were so positive and uplifting I was excited to move forward in ways to keep expanding. In January of 2022, Valeria’s Vanity was officially filed as an LLC in the State of Texas and my website launched a scheduling and deposit payment feature for your makeup appointment as well as detailed pages of information such as client policies, reviews, pricing and an expanded portfolio.
Although Valeria’s Vanity has just officially started, I am proud of the growth I’ve built and the results from my ongoing efforts. I am renewed in encouragement to keep building, learning and to see where my small business can continue to grow, impact and inspire those I meet along the way.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It’s never a smooth road but the journey itself has been extremely rewarding. Throughout the years of maintaining a full time job, part time school plus vital responsibilities all while working towards your passions is never easy but the experience, resilience and knowledge built along the way is very much worth all the obstacles life puts in your way. Through determination, integrity, consistency and good intentions your hard work speaks for itself and despite the difficulties life has a beautiful way of putting the right people into your life to make the road worth traveling.

My name is Valerie Salgado. I am a Professional Freelance Makeup Artist located in San Antonio, Texas. Experienced in weddings, quinceañeras, sweet 16’s, on-site photoshoots and much more. All skin types are welcome. I am currently home based and located in the Rim, 78257 by appointment only and am also available to travel and provide on-site appointments to the surrounding area.
My service is a 60-90 minute Makeup Session. Which includes preparation of the face (moisturizer and lip balm), primer, full face prestige makeup product application plus optional false lashes. A complimentary touch up kit is also included with every appointment.

- $90 Makeup Appointment plus $30 Travel Fee
- A One Time $30 travel fee is added for on-site appointments within a 25 mile radius. (If you schedule 4 or more clients the travel fee is waived.)
