Today we’d like to introduce you to Sherrie Wilson.
Hi Sherrie, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My name is Sherrie Dawn Wilson, originally from Princeton, Kentucky, born July 26, 1980.
I’m a country girl at heart who now proudly calls Texas home.
I moved here in 2000 from Wiesbaden, Germany, where I attended high school — yes, I’m an Army brat.
I’m a mother of 5 amazing kids!
Divorcee for 4 years now after nearly two decades of marriage.
I’ve been in the barber industry for over 15 years, starting as a receptionist at Great Clips and later working at Sport Clips, where I fell in love with cutting men’s hair. My first true barbershop experience was at Mac’s Barbershop in Rolling Oaks Mall, where I spent nearly a decade learning the craft and culture of barbering.
After leaving Mac’s, I opened my first solo shop inside a training gym alongside Bay Bay McClinton — he trained the athletes, and I kept them fresh.
In May 2020, I lost my dad to lung cancer, a loss that changed my life forever. He was my biggest supporter — an amazing father, pastor, and choir director. I’m a proud preacher’s kid and have been rooted in church my entire life.
Nowwww lets get down to the nitty gritty!
January 6, 2025!!
Krowned Beard and Barber was born at 902 Pat Booker Road, Suite A. We are a full-service barbershop welcoming men, women, and children, offering walk-ins, specialty haircuts, beard treatments, and our signature Krowned Experience. We’ve also proudly produced our own line of natural beard care products since 2018.
In just one year, Krowned Beard and Barber has laid the foundation to become a landmark barbershop in Universal City. We were honored to be named Top 5 Barbershop of 2025, sponsored local events, and successfully hosted a Back-to-School drive, providing 130+ free haircuts and 50+ backpacks to families in need.
In partnership with the Priest Holmes Foundation, we also launched Give 4 Good (G4G), a student program for grades 1–12 that teaches compassion through giving. Students journal their experiences, participate weekly in our Generosity Store, and at the end of the program, one student will receive a $50,000 scholarship.
At Krowned, we believe it costs nothing to be a blessing — and that belief fuels everything we do.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It’s been an incredible journey, but not without its challenges. Opening a brand-new shop in a completely different area was, at times, overwhelming. I transitioned from the busy Broadway and 410 airport corridor into a much smaller, close-knit community, which required a different approach and a lot of intentional relationship-building. That said, like anything in life, it’s truly what you make of it. I chose to embrace the change, show up consistently, and pour into the community — and that decision has made all the difference.
As you know, we’re big fans of Krowned Beard and Barber. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Krowned Beard and Barber is a full-service barbershop built on craftsmanship, community, and care. We proudly serve men, women, and children, welcome walk-ins, and specialize in precision haircuts, beard grooming, and elevated grooming experiences. One of our signature offerings is the Krowned Experience, which combines expert service with intentional details that make every client feel seen, respected, and refreshed.
What truly sets us apart is our culture. Krowned isn’t just a place to get a haircut — it’s a space where people feel at home. We focus on consistency, professionalism, and creating an atmosphere that’s welcoming to everyone who walks through our doors.
Brand-wise, I’m most proud of how deeply rooted we are in the community.
From hosting events and sponsoring local initiatives.
