Today we’d like to introduce you to Rosedale Band
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
It started with Vicente, the drummer, and Pat, the lead guitar player. They started an indie cover band only playing for their close friend and family. Not having a name they decided to name themselves after Rosedale park; a skatepark they would frequent. While in college, Pat found a flyer of someone trying to start a band. He joined a group chat and they decided to get together. Jay, the singer and rhythm guitarist, showed up first. The other people from the group didn’t end up showing up, but Jay left an impression. The two let him in and they were now a trio. However, they were still missing a bass player. Not thinking much of it Vinnie posted a demo to their Instagram story. Next thing you know an old friend sent a message saying he was interested in filling the roll. Alessandro came into the next practice and blew the group away. Once he was added in Rosedale was finally a full band.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There has been nothing but struggles throughout our journey. When it comes to writing the songs that comes easy. We always write things if they don’t see the light of day. The real challenges comes with growing an audience and recording the music. When reaching out to venues about 90% won’t respond. When they do they might not always have a spot for you. Then learning to get the audience involved is a skill outside of playing itself. When it comes to recording it’s always a struggle getting enough money together to get into the studio or trying to set up a home recording. However, we continue to learn and get better at the recording process.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Well we make music but it extends beyond that. This day and age we manage ourselves, book shows, promote our work, and get any other connections we need. I think we’re always proud of when we put music out there or when we have a good performance people enjoy.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
The most important lesson would be keeping a positive mindset. It’s easy to think things will never happen but if you keep working at it things tend to work out. We always have to stay disciplined and continue to work on our craft and be better at what we do.
