Meet Robert Moore Jr.

Today we’d like to introduce you to Robert Moore Jr.

Robert Moore Jr

Hi Robert, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Ever since I was about 11 or 12, I knew I wanted to take pictures for the rest of my life. Going to Palo Alto Middle School in Killeen, TX, in the 6th or 7th grade, I was a part of the school newspaper, and that was the first time I held and used a digital camera. When I used the camera and started taking pictures, I loved it. Taking a picture is like capturing a moment in time that people can always return to and will always have that memory. Once I left middle school and went to Robert M. Shoemaker High School, I would always take pictures, mostly of friends. I was on the football team and in the STEM program, so when I had time to take pictures, that’s what I did. After graduating High school, I went to Tyler Junior College, where I really started taking photography seriously. The friends I made there were my models, and I did many photoshoots with them. But that’s when I started looking into lenses, lighting, and different cameras, trying to find my way. In 2020, my sophomore year, during spring break, COVID broke out, and I finished the remainder of my last semester of junior college online, and then I took a semester off. Once I was ready to return, I transferred to The University of Texas at San Antonio and put myself in many uncomfortable positions. As someone who wanted to make photography a career, I went up to people and different organizations on campus. I asked if they wanted pictures; if you look at my portfolio, the rest is history.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Getting where I am today has been a challenging road. It took a lot of patience and research and just being a student of the game. I faced a lot of obstacles and challenges. However, the biggest one I still face would be not giving myself enough credit or being in my head, and with that, I mean I could go on any social media platform and see a photographer and go on their page and feel discouraged with how better their pictures are or how big their social media presence is or how connected they are, it happens all the time. But I have to take a step back and realize what and who I have around me and be thankful for the position I’m in now. You cannot rush god’s plan.

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a photographer who shoots almost everything, but my strength would have to be documentary photography, which I’ll say I’m most proud of. My overall experience in leading the photoshoot and the different amenities I provide sets me apart from others.
