We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I’ve learned knowledge is power. It’s a simple yet profound statement. If you think you know something because you heard it once, think again. Most folks need to hear it 3 times to remember it long-term and go through 1 sleep cycle for their brain to make healthy decisions on processed information. And that’s for those that are not set in their ways!

While directing the Dallas gallery under Ron Gremillion at Gremillion and Co. Fine Art, Inc.; he would have me sit with our artists with my only goal being to listen to every word and be thoughtful about what the artist was trying to tell me. I had a deep inner sense of achievement with each session that is hard to put into words. I was always tired afterward but ’emotionally spent” in a great way. I came to love these sessions.

Ron would say, “Rebecca, listen to me, our clients will tell you they will know the art when they see it. But, it’s your job to encourage thoughtful perception and they will see the art when they know it.” It took me 6 months to work that out in my mind before I realized what he was sharing with me. And he was right, I heard patrons recite that phrase on a weekly basis. Blind to what was right in front of them.

If you think we are here on this earth to experience mundane, sometimes happy lives you are missing the big picture. We are in constant inner turmoil because we were not made for mediocre existence. We cry out for more because we have a higher purpose.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Rebecca’s experiences in fine art, interior design, real estate and finance for 24 years has shaped her creations. Her artwork is most influenced by her Christian faith, living in Texas, travels to Mexico/New Mexico, ongoing practice of interior design and years directing Gremillion and Co. Fine Art, Inc. She admires the contemporary artist, Gary Komarin, and you might see similar drip techniques in some of her work. Her geographical focus is the Texas Hill Country, Blanco County. Reflections of mason jars, deep shades of peony pedals and broad, painterly backgrounds are in many of her pieces. She is open to exploring animals and landscapes and is continuing to develop her creative process daily.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
“I think it is paramount to stay humble in anything I do, whether I’m serving a client in the purchase of real estate, coaching agents, volunteering for the local baseball league, designing a home, or creating art. Giving my life over to Christ when I was younger and becoming a mom has kept that lesson in the forefront of my mind. It’s not a skill I’ve mastered; just a lesson I continue to embrace. I honor Christ, His purpose for my life, and share it with others by signing my “personally crafted” initials to each artwork. The RLO forms a Cross and Crown of Thorns on each piece. It’s my symbol to others that they too, may partake in His gift of forgiveness.” Rebecca
