Phillip Hodge was born with the ability to compose spontaneous poetry. The lyricist has developed a career in music as the rapper Thuggizzle in San Antonio, Texas. Despite the wealth of talent Hodge was born with, the home life of his childhood was one of instability and neglect. He and his three sisters grew up in and out of foster care, and made wards of the state at a very young age. Hodge first adopted the stage name Thuggizzle, a combination of “thug,” a word he had been called as a young person, and “izzle,” meaning “is him.” Hodge ultimately aged out of the system without finding a forever family. Thuggizzle Pure Spring Water was brought to life to give youth who are currently or previously going through foster care inspiration, to not let what they are going through, to hold them back from making their dreams a reality. It is also a way to encourage drinking water and recycling to youth and young adults.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No. It hasn’t been a smooth road because the main thing you will face when trying to bring forward change is rejection. My name Thuggizzle on an Aluminum spring water can easily interest you or turn you away. I have struggled with stores wondering If people will buy to my product due to the name having Thug in It. Another struggle is when you are fulfilled by Amazon or Walmart and send them cans in great condition but have to take bad reviews for them arriving to customers damaged. My main struggle is stores giving me a chance due to my name or my face being on the can. Some will turn me away but see us sell over 40 bottles in a day in a store down the street and then want Thuggizzle Water. I try and stay positive about everything so everything ends up working out, and what’s a good story without a struggle.
We’ve been impressed with Thuggizzle Water, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Phillip Hodge also known as hip hop artist Thuggizzle is a hip hop artist who made a name for himself in the music industry and took his mission to the community to start a non-profit organization entitled Thuggizzle Cares Inc. After fighting stage 3 gum disease I knew I had to do something about my high blood pressure because the dentist said I needed to do a deep scaling on all 4 quads basically cleaning under the gums however they couldn’t do the procedure because my blood pressure was too high so I got off the liquor caffeine soda and juice and started drinking nothing but water. It’s been 8 years straight and I’ve been drinking nothing but water straight and I haven’t had any blood pressure problems and have been taking great care of my teeth. I want to reach kids that come from places like me shelters group homes foster care even adoption or a broken household, If you don’t have no one to teach you or show you the right way then you are kinda stuck. If I can just reach those that don’t know better and show something different that will inspire and give hope I’m good. I can only imagine If I saw someone with a product in stores that I can relate to I would feel like there was gonna be hope at the times were going through trauma. Now about the water Thuggizzle Water comes from the Appalachian Mountains Of Georgia filtered Through Granite Deposits and bottled in Tiger Georgia.
My goal is to reach the inner city youth and give them a healthier choice by using my name that I’ve been grinding for about 15 years now straight behind in music and working with kids through my non-profit Thuggizzle Cares Inc. which is a local San Antonio non-profit organization 501c3 with tax-exempt status. I Have Over 50 Youtube Channels one of them I read to kids so by moving water I’m able to grab and reach everybody because water is essential we all need It to survive. We are going to fight against hypertension high blood pressure and every other bad outcome that comes from drinking unhealthy drinks with a lot of sugar. I’m most proud that It has been over 15 years of seeds planted and now they are getting harvested. I want people to know that I care and that this has been my lifestyle before It became a movement. I’m not in water to spread my music I’m in water because I care and want to see people live and not die early due to choosing to drink stuff that will eventually kill you. I actually drink nothing but water everyday and love It so this is my lifestyle. I want people to know when they are drinking Thuggizzle Water they are helping influencing more people to make better choices because people listen and follow me. I want It to be when people search my name It’s the opposite of what they thought. I’m using water to do It thanks to God because without him none of this would be possible, These kids need to see somebody who come from a hopeless situation make It out and not stomp on them but give them hope and that’s what Thuggizzle Water is here to do.
