Today we’d like to introduce you to Noreen Rodriguez.
Hi Noreen, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started during the pandemic in April of 2020. I only offered eyelashes and makeup at the time, hence, the name Miss Texas Beauty Boutique.
I wanted to offer more to my customers so I obtained my LLC in August and slowly started adding clothing to my inventory, and the rest was history. I now specialize in western wear, all things Texas, and the cutest accessories.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has definitely not always been a smooth road! Many times within the first year, I wanted to throw in the towel. I didn’t have anyone to answer questions I had about starting a boutique or where to purchase inventory.
I had to do lots of research and lost lots of money in the process. I didn’t have my clientele and had very few followers on my social media accounts. My biggest customer was my grandma and she always bought one of everything and wouldn’t accept a discount. She believed I could be a successful business owner when I believed I couldn’t.
She gave me the confidence I needed. When she passed away in January of 2021 from Covid it was hard for me to want to do anything, but I know she would want me to continue living my life to the fullest. I just wish she could see how far I’ve come since the beginning.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I graduated from Palo Alto College In December 2019 with my Associates in Education and Science. I was accepted into UT Health Science Center in August of 2021. I left my job at a specialty compounding pharmacy to peruse my nursing degree. So I am currently enrolled as a full-time nursing student.
I am also a mom of two girls. (Help me, Lord) My oldest is just shy of 13 and my youngest is 6 (going on 16)! I don’t sleep much these days and I’m currently still trying to balance mom’s life, house responsibilities, school, my business, and staying hydrated! I am a one-woman show with my business. I handle every aspect as far as customer service, billing, inventory, shipping, social media accounts, live sales, accounting, business trips, etc.
I love what I do especially all the customers I’ve met along the way that have become friends. I am most proud of the example I’m setting for my daughters that hard work pays offs and nothing worth having in life is easy if not everyone would do it.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Success to me isn’t the kind of car you drive, or how big your house is. Success to me is loving what you do and being able to enjoy your life and the people in it. We only get one life and time goes by so fast.
I want to be able to look back on my life when I’m in my 70s and know I made a positive impact in someone’s life. Even if it’s only one person, I’m at peace with that.
