Today we’d like to introduce you to Nadi Salement Riche
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I grew up poor, with an incredibly talented and strong single mother. She inspired me to be authentic, and go after the things I want. I’ve been an artist as long as I have been a human. And probably before then, if you believe in that sort of thing. Now that I am an adult, the flame lit beneath me is a full fledged bonfire. Because of all that I, and my family, have gone through, I nurse an unbridled passion for creation and expression. I aim to inspire hope in the world around me, and to capture the natural and nonorganic beauty surrounding us.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Oh definitely not. If smoothness is on the scale of peanut butter, it has been an extra chopped nuts crunchy road!
I have faced adversity since birth, and now navigate life with CPTSD.
And with my work, it is an uphill battle for women in 99% of fields, and art is famous for its points of patriarchy. Each day that I wake up and create, I understand it is with extra layers of required hard work. And it is work I am willing to put in. Because of the experiences I have gone through, I am able to fight with grit and determination.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I consider myself a quite well rounded artist! While growing up, my mama was a tattoo artist, and is now a musician.
I have always wanted to create all of it.
My current preferred vessels for creativity are painting, performance art (including burlesque and drag), writing (I am currently working on a novel series), and sculpting.
I am proud of everything I create. Not because of its level of completion or satisfaction, but because I am truly profoundly grateful to be alive and to be creating.
Everything that is made from my hands, is made from love.
I see the world, and all the creatures in it, and cannot help but feel called to capture it in a form of art.
I think I offer a very raw and honest perspective. Because of my perspective, I feel little to no shame or embarrassment regarding sensuality and full Self expression.
I care only to use my body as a vessel for the passage of ideas. Everything I do is with full intention.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
I am extremely independent, and have full self confidence.
I love myself unconditionally, so that it can overflow into my art, or my interactions with the external world.
Because of that, it feels much easier to approach ideas, situations, opportunities, or conversations.
