Today we’d like to introduce you to Mista Pimpin.
Hi Mista Pimpin, thank you for sharing your story with me – can you please start by bringing us up to speed on how you got to where you are today, both personally and professionally.
One day at a time has always been my mentality. In my personal life I’ve always been a hard worker.I come from a migrant family so I use to work in the fields as a kid with my siblings in Clewiston, Florida so working hard comes naturally to me you can say. Even As a teenager I worked two jobs so it’s always been in my blood. My dad raised us to be hard workers. Shout out to my dad Juan Valadez aka Api! Love you!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
One of my main struggles has always been managing my time, but it’s all about balance. In the beginning it was super tough to make music when life was hitting me in the face. I remember working two jobs full time and still finding the time for music, all while trying to make family time as well. Over the last year I learned to manage my time better. Now I schedule everything to make things easier. Other than time, I would say lately it has been a smooth road. Ever since I released my single “Loco Por Ti” feat. Dj Kane of Los Kumbia Kings, so many doors opened up, which I’m extremely grateful for.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m considered a Reggaeton/Rap artist. On a daily basis I’m in my studio at least 2-3 hours minimum. I’m always working and planning new projects. I’m mostly known for my two newest singles “Loco Por Ti” feat. Dj Kane of Los Kumbia Kings and “Ojos De Oro” feat. Zig Zag of NB Ridaz. What separates me from other artists is the fact that I’m extremely humble and willing to work with anyone. I grew up in a migrant family. I literally worked in the fields picking up onions, tomatoes, etc. with my brothers as a 10yr old boy with my dad in Clewiston, Florida so I know and understand what the struggle is. Working in the hot sun will humble anyone down lol. I guess you can say my story is “From working in the fields to working with legends”. So I think being humble is a big factor in what separates me. Another factor that seperates me is the fact that I’m versatile and my sound is unique. I can rap English or Spanish, all while maintaining a consistent brand. My music also brings people together and sets the vibe. I’m really proud of how far I’ve come. I’m most proud of my dedication and not giving up. Following your dream is no easy task lol.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
I think the most important quality I have is being “Optimistic”. In the music industry a lot of things don’t go as planned, so you have to remain hopeful and confident about the future. Never let anyone or anything stop you from your goals. So when things don’t go as planned, just remember “theirs always a way”. I think being “Optimistic” has played a big factor in my musical journey.
