Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauxx ViXen.
Lauxx, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I was born in Washington, D.C on November 23, 2001. My family then shortly moved to Maryland in 2002. I first made an appearance in the music scene in 2018 on ’’The Blueprint Radio” show performing my first song “Scam Likely”.
The artist that inspired me to start my music career includes Missy Elliot, Lil Wayne, Tee Grizzley, Rico Nasty, and Willtharapper. Listening to the execution of the lyrics, showed me that you don’t have to sound like everyone else to be great. It was then, that I realized that I wanted to pursue my career in the music industry.
At 19 years old, I moved from Baltimore, Maryland to San Antonio, Texas to pursue my music career. Learning from trial and error, I quickly became known in the local music scene. I expanded on my knowledge in music production and creative writing, where I was featured in “The Voyage Baltimore” in September of 2021.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Although the move to San Antonio was very smooth, I did go through some obstacles along the way.
The community welcomed me with open arms and gave me nothing but great support, but I had to go through some things to learn some things. I can admit to being naive about being on my own in a new city, but I’m glad that I gained support along the way.
Most of the obstacles I had to go through were mental. Being alone, it’s like you’re forced to find yourself. To find your sound, your look, your whole identity. I quickly took advantage of my situation and put all my emotions into my music.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
My stage name is Lauxx ViXen, and I am a female rapper. I dropped my first EP in 2021 called “Out The Box”, which featured artists such as Twin of CGC, and Shawn Tha Rapper. Since the move, I have met and collaborated with great artists such as Carter Fadeaway, BossTrip 4Tre, Karla Hallz, Lo La’Reaux, and more.
I have performed in some of the local bars\clubs such as Capisce Gentleman’s Club, Epic Bar, The Reggae Bar, The Happy Place Bar, and soon to be The Treasure’s Event Center. I’m mainly known for my aggressive flow, but I’m also a lyricist. I have a very versatile take on music. my upcoming project will definitely show more of my talent. What I am most proud of right now, is the fact that I can say I have a song with one of my favorite rappers.
I have a song on all streaming platforms called “Spazz (feat. WillThaRapper)”, and that honestly made me feel very accomplished. I listened to Willtharapper all through high school, so this was very big for me. I think what really sets me apart from others is not only my drive and dedication to music but my sound.
My music definitely has some mental health in them, because I just write pure music. I put all my emotions into music, so whenever I feel like I’m down or angry I write.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The most important lesson I learned was to always expect the unexpected. I had to learn that I have no control over people’s emotions, let alone their actions.
I also had to learn to trust my gut. Being in certain situations would really make someone see life from a different point of view.
