Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Byrd.
Hi Lauren, can you please start by introducing yourself? We’d love to hear more about how you got to where you are today.
I spent over 21 years in the United States Air Force as a Medical Service Corps officer responsible for leading healthcare organizations to deliver care to our men and women in uniform and their families. As I was transitioning from active duty, I wanted to start my own business to invest in and give back to the community I had decided to make home. While I was still in uniform, I was always part of something greater than myself, but I was also very transient through the communities I lived in. Now, I would be staying in one place, and I wanted to find a way to continue serving others and making deep, long-lasting connections. I learned about franchising through one of my transition courses and decided to explore the opportunities available. With the help of a franchise consultant, I explored many different concepts, but I decided that FYZICAL Therapy & Balance Centers was the best fit given my background in healthcare. My clinic started seeing patients at the end of January 2023, and we just celebrated our grand opening at the end of September.
Alright, let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what challenges have you had to overcome?
It’s had its challenges. There are many things about business ownership (especially with a brick-and-mortar location) that I didn’t realize would be up to me; a big one was technology. In the military, I had always been issued a laptop, a cell phone, a hotspot, etc., and they just worked when I turned them on. In building a new clinic, I was responsible for making those things happen and needed help figuring out where to start. Fortunately, there are many small business owners in my area who are always happy to help out. Another challenge has been embracing the role of social media in marketing and promoting my business. I didn’t have personal social media accounts, so learning how to use them has been challenging.
As you know, we’re big fans of FYZICAL Therapy & Balance Centers – Stone Oak. What can you tell our readers who might need to be more familiar with the brand?
Individualized and dedicated care is what you can expect at FYZICAL Stone Oak. Our model is one-on-one care from a licensed physical therapist; we don’t schedule multiple patients simultaneously, and our therapists don’t transfer treatment to a team member with a lower level of formal training. Our balance therapy program and a safety overhead support system to help our patients feel more secure while undergoing treatment set us apart from other physical therapy practices. Patients’ health and well-being are our top priority. Our team of experienced professionals consisting of highly trained Physical Therapists and Client Care Specialists are committed to helping our patients recover from injury, manage chronic conditions, and improve overall physical mobility. FYZICAL® Therapy & Balance Centers – Stone Oak is actively changing the healthcare landscape by providing patients with wellness programs and clinical care in Fall Prevention, Orthopedic, and Vestibular Rehabilitation. FYZICAL® is America’s fastest-growing physical therapy franchise, with 500+ locations in 46 states.
Any big plans?
I’m looking forward to opening up additional clinics and continuing to expand balance therapy across San Antonio.
