Meet Kelley Howe of New Braunfels

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelley Howe.

Hi Kelley, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started my photography business 20 years ago, right after my son was born—back when digital cameras were just becoming a thing. What began as a love for capturing moments for friends and family quickly grew into a full-time career. Over the years, I photographed everything from weddings and engagements to maternity and newborn sessions.

About ten years in, I found my true passion: high school senior photography. This season of life is so important and fleeting, and I realized I wanted to do more than just take pictures—I wanted to create an experience. I partnered with local boutiques to host styling events, brought in a professional hair and makeup team, and began offering fully styled sessions that made my seniors feel confident and celebrated.

I also created a Senior Model Team, made up of about 20 girls each year, which has become one of my favorite parts of what I do. For the past decade, I’ve had the joy of photographing seniors all over the San Antonio and New Braunfels area.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No—photography is a much harder business than most people realize. Every year, I have to find an entirely new set of clients, which is a challenge in itself. One of the hardest parts has been that the way I advertise is constantly changing as social media evolves.

At one point it was all word of mouth, then Facebook, and now it’s Instagram, TikTok, and Snapchat. There are so many platforms to keep up with—on top of shooting, editing, and running a full-time business. Staying current and on top of trends can feel like a full-time job all on its own… haha.

This year has been especially difficult for me since I have been working while battling stage 3 breast cancer. My clients have been so wonderful and understanding during this new challenge!

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in high school senior photography and am known for creating a fun, seamless, and exceptional client experience. My style is bright and colorful, with a touch of editorial posing balanced by natural movement—allowing each senior’s personality to truly shine through.

What sets me apart is my ability to make clients feel comfortable and confident in front of the camera. I guide them through movement and posing in a way that feels effortless, so nothing looks stiff or forced—everything comes across natural and authentic.

I provide detailed “what to wear” guides, collaborate with local boutiques, and work alongside a professional hair and makeup team to make picture day completely stress-free. My goal is for every senior to feel special, confident, and beautiful.

Session days are designed to be fun and memorable, with multiple locations, outfit changes, music, and snacks. Moms and seniors consistently rave about how easy and enjoyable the experience is—and how much they love their images. Many tell me it’s an experience they’ll never forget.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
Don’t be afraid to try new things. Not everything will work, and that’s okay—that’s how growth happens. Beautiful photos are important, but the way you make people feel is what they’ll remember forever.
