Meet Kassandra Rodriguez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kassandra Rodriguez.

Hi Kassandra, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My story started when I was very young. I was always fascinated by the style, I knew from a young age the power that fashion could bring. It is what always helped me feel confident and beautiful when the world was only telling me to lose weight. I saw it within society and even when I would go to stores.

Being a plus-size girl who loves to shop is a hard mixture when all stores carried clothes that would swallow our bodies instead of accentuating our curves. I made it a point to advocate for plus-size fashion. I started a Youtube channel and a blog where I would share my outfits so the world could see that size did not limit what I could wear.

I went on to study Fashion Merchandising at The University of Incarnate Word and threw myself into the fashion society and would volunteer at any and all fashion events around town. Creating a brand of my own only felt fitting, and so I created Girl Almighty, a business where women’s empowerment was at the forefront.

I wanted to bring trendy styles in extended sizes so nobody felt neglected. Every size can feel almighty with our brand.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
No small business is easy, every day is a new struggle as well as a new triumph.

The pandemic was especially hard as it made pop-up markets impossible to do, and our business profits from in-person sales more than online. We had to maneuver this, by creating handmade masks we were able to sustain ourselves and hold ourselves over during that year.

In addition, like many other small business owners, this is not my main source of income. I am still a student, working towards my MBA and dealing with what I like to call my quarter-life crisis. I have had to overcome many struggles both internally and externally while building Girl Almighty into what it is today.

There are times when it feels like quitting would be so easy, but I remind myself of all the reasons why I started. I remind myself that this isn’t “work” this is something I chose to do daily because I love it.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am the owner of Girl Almighty.

She is my baby, and my favorite hobby/job. I am the one who attends markets as our buyer every season finding new pieces to sell and merchandise, I set up pop-up markets monthly, maintain our social media accounts and website as well as design our custom styles.

I do not do this alone, my right-hand woman, Kenedy Navarro is my partner in crime, she helps me with literally everything. Girl Almighty would not be here today if it weren’t for her help, both creatively and emotionally.

Girl Almighty is known for being a brand that offers trendy styles in all styles. We carry items ranging from XS-3XL. We also value that we sell items at affordable prices. Our main goal was to knock down everything you once knew about “boutiques”.

Yes, we are a boutique but we are so much more than that, we are a lifestyle brand. As part of our curated styles, we also design our own t-shirts and have recently begun a series of columns on our website where we talk about everything between beauty, fashion, and lifestyle.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
This is such a heavy question. I wish nothing but EVERYTHING for Girl Almighty. I hope that one day we can build an empire.

A few dreams I have for our brand are that we can help women in our community with a non-profit as well as continue on with our store, and for our website, I have a dream that it becomes the next online Cosmopolitan.

Nothing is impossible, it will take hard work but I believe that because we hold our love for our mission close to our hearts we can accomplish all our dreams one day.
