Meet Julie De La Fuente

Today we’d like to introduce you to Julie De La Fuente.

Hi Julie, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My love for the camera started years back, I can still remember those days when I used to go out of the backyard and photograph just about anything I can come across.

Trying to get the bee perfectly focused or the macro image of the tree bark shot in shallow depth of field and the first sunset. I’ve always had the urge to create and capture special moments, I think it must have been this deep inner feeling that made me fall in love more with photography.

I started doing free sessions in the beginning and the more I see the happiness of people smiling at their partners, those eyes where you see their love for each other, and the children’s laughter behind my lens the more I realize that God is revealing a special gift for me and that is to capture this raw connection that they have with their loved ones.

If I can cause people to view my photographs to stop and ponder the wonder of God’s creation, I succeed. This is when my journey as a photographer began and I wouldn’t be where I am today without God’s grace.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not always been easy and I believe in the saying “the higher the climb, the better the view”.

I have doubted myself many times and fear that my work isn’t good enough, but our God is big and He constantly reminded me that I am good enough.

I’ve learned that if I find my affirmation from God I can handle rejection a little better and I am more invested in what I do because if we find it in others it is easy to be obsessed with comparison, which we all know is a thief.

We all have different styles of photography and that’s what makes us all special and unique.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I specialize in family, maternity, lifestyle, engagement and couples photography, I would love to do a wedding someday.

I am most proud of how far I’ve come in such a short period of time and excited about where this journey is heading. What sets me apart from others is my purpose, I want to be an inspiration I believe that each of us has been entrusted with gifts and talents.

I want to look for ways to use my gift to point others toward God, I don’t want to just capture moments behind my lens but I also want to capture your heart and remind you of God’s love for us.

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
Just because you have a plan or a goal doesn’t mean it’s going to be easy.

I’ve learned the hard way that is it always God’s plan, not mine, and God’s plan has a greater purpose. Instead of making it complicated, focus on the simplicity of God’s will and understand that even the bad stuff may be part of the plan.

We may never know if we made the right decisions but if you trust and let God lead the way you will continue to see God’s promises fulfilled.
