Today we’d like to introduce you to Judith Poole.
Hi Judith, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started my second career in 2012 when I graduated from massage school here in San Antonio. I now had knowledge about kinesiology, physiology, ethics, and hands on training in massage therapy. I immediately went into business for myself. I started out offering mobile services but found that renting a space to welcome my clients in is much more aligned with what I wanted. I loved helping people relieve muscle tension and with pain relief. To further my knowledge I took many advanced classes, including cupping therapy, lymphatic drainage, reflexology, infant massage, and others.
I started noticing a shift in my clients needs in 2020. The post pandemic world and all events that followed made the world feel like a much less predictable/safe place for many.
What people often don’t realize is that traumatic events are stored in our physical bodies.
I began to realize that what many of my clients were struggling with wasn’t just muscle tension- it was stress, overwhelm, burnout, and nervous system dysregulation.
That realization shifted everything.
To meet the changing needs of my clients I took classes on nervous system regulation and somatic practices that included emotional body mapping, reiki, sound healing, energy work and meditation.
My work became less about ‘fixing’ tension and more about helping clients reset, regulate, and reconnect with themselves.
Today, I offer nervous system reset sessions that blend sound healing, meditation, and energy work. My focus is on creating a space where people can slow down, feel supported, and experience a deep sense of safety and restoration.
In addition to one-on-one sessions, I have also expanded into group experiences like chakra workshops (offered twice a year, follow Reiki and Sound Healing with Judith on FB for dates and announcements) and monthly community sound baths.
The past 5 years have been a shift from muscle focused work to subtle, restorative nervous system work-and it feels so much more aligned with who I am and how I want to serve the people of San Antonio and Helotes.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Simply put: people don’t book what they don’t understand.
Their time and money are precious, and there usually has to be a justification for booking a session.
A few good reasons would be:
– Burnout prevention
– regulated nervous system that leads to:
responding instead of reacting, feeling safe in your body, making clearer decisions, and recovering from stress easier.
My ongoing challenge is educating new clients about their nervous system and helping take the fear out of the unknown by being transparent about what happens in a session and what the benefits are. Once a person experiences a session, they rebook 99% of the time. It is more of a challenge to describe the ‘feeling’ of the session:
Imagine walking into a quiet room where everything feels slower. The lighting is soft. There is nothing expected of you. You’re invited to lie on the soft, warm massage bed. You are fully clothed. Blankets, pillows, and a bolster are available for your convenience.
The session begins with a few slow breaths. You notice your shoulders relax and your jaw soften. The outside world starts to feel farther away. Your awareness is now guided inwards with a meditation. You notice a soft heaviness in your limbs. A deep breath feels like relief.
The first tone from the crystal bowl is soft, almost like a ripple through still water. The vibration doesn’t just enter your ears; it feels like it moves through your body. Your brain waves shift from beta to alpha or even theta states. You might experience a floating sensation and a deep sense of being supported.
Next you will feel my warm hands resting gently on your body. You will feel warmth or even a subtle movement of energy. You might simply feel deeply still and relaxed. This energy work supports your parasympathetic nervous system—the rest-and-repair state. It invites your body to do what it naturally does: regulate. Sometimes clients describe it as feeling held. Time feels different here. You may drift between waking and dreamlike states. Images might present themselves like colors, light, or water. When you’re guided back, it’s gradual. After the session, you might feel ‘lighter,’ a sense of inner calm, more grounded in your body, reduced stress and anxiety, and more mental clarity.
The other challenge is to explain the benefits of regular care to new clients.
The way I set up my business is long-term care for my clients.
I don’t usually see a person just once. Through experiencing the benefits of these sessions, my clients want to have recurring appointments, mostly monthly or weekly. That is why my schedule stays mostly fully booked. I understand that this can be frustrating for new clients that have to wait weeks to get in for an appointment. I very much appreciate their patience.
I encourage everyone to visit my monthly sound baths. Would love to see you there!
We’ve been impressed with Reiki and Sound Healing with Judith, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business is focused on supporting my clients nervous system and overall well-being through a combination of energy work, sound healing and guided meditation.
What sets my service apart is my holistic, client centered approach. No one session is the same. Always tailored to the clients needs.
I am most proud of the trust my clients place in me and the transformative experiences they report.
My brand is about creating a space for nervous system wellness they can rely on.
Imagine how your life would shift if your nervous system truly had permission to relax and recharge on a regular basis. Not just once when you are at your breaking point. It becomes something you look forward to- a reset point in your week or month. When regulation becomes a practice rather than an emergency response, your whole life can start to feel different.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
Holding space for my clients means I have to make sure my nervous system is regulated first. A calm, supportive presence is most important. Co-regulation is something I always have to keep in the forefront of my mind. I always take time to ground and recall my energy.
Also, entrepreneurship is rewarding and yet not for everyone. It works for me and my family’s schedule.
