Jocelyne, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, how can you bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
It all started in 2019 when I was scrolling through Instagram and saw an eyelash class ad that caught my attention. So I clicked it, got the information, took the class, and that’s where it all started. Back then, eyelash extensions weren’t as popular as to what they are today, but at the time, I knew I didn’t want to work a 9-5 my whole life, I knew I wanted to be my entrepreneur and make my own schedule to be able to spend more time with my family. As the years went by, I had many jobs that I’m super grateful for because, in every single position, I got to learn a little bit of everything that has helped me in my business. In 2020 I took a leap of faith and decided to quit my full-time job and focus on doing eyelashes and enrolling in cosmetology school to become licensed. Yes, it was scary because I knew I wouldn’t be getting a paycheck every two weeks and didn’t know how I would be able to afford school; two, it was scarier because businesses were hurting due to COVID. But by taking safety measures, I could still work and continue to offer services to my clients, and I thank them for keeping me in business at challenging times. With my family and friends’ support, I could finish cosmetology school. This year in January and March, I got my license. And since then, I knew I wanted this more than anything. Seeing my dad open up his own business while the pandemic was happening, I saw it wasn’t easy, but no matter what obstacles he faced, he never gave up made me look up to him and appreciate him more. And how his business is thriving and very successful. That is where I am today to keep pursuing my dreams and goals to become a successful young woman and to remind other young entrepreneurs that this life is not easy, but if you set your mind to it, anything is possible.
We all face challenges, but would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Honestly, no, it hasn’t been a smooth journey. If anyone tells you it’s easy, they’re lying. It’s not all sunshine and rainbows. I faced many challenges along the road, one being due to COVID and the other being due to mental health. Thank God I had a good support system and amazing loyal clients who referred my business to others and kept me busy during those hard times. Mental health is a tough topic many people don’t discuss because they’re embarrassed or scared of what people will say, but it’s okay to talk about it. You don’t take mental health lightly, and as an entrepreneur, we all have our good and bad days. We all go through stuff, and it’s okay to disconnect from the world for a bit. Your business and clients will still be there, but you must take care of yourself. I thank God I overcame those tough battles and am happy to be where I am today.

What am I known for? I would have to say I’m known mainly for eyelash extensions, while giving good customer service, and delivering what my client wants.
What sets me apart from others? I am unique and always strive to do better by putting out good content for my clientele and making them feel comfortable when they come into their lash appointment. I put a lot of work into everything I do, so when clients are satisfied with my work, it makes me feel like I’m doing something right.
I’m very proud of myself because this wasn’t an easy journey. Battling with real-life issues and managing a business was hard. But at the end of the day, I thank God, my family & clientele because I wouldn’t be where I am today without them. I’m blessed to say I’m happy and grateful for how far my business has come and how much it continues to grow, and I can’t wait for what the future holds.
