Meet Jessica Ramirez of Denver Heights

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Ramirez.

Hi Jessica, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I have always loved creating memories, art, and experiences. My first memory of creating was when I was 7/8 when my dad brought me some paper flowers from his trip to Mexico. I immediately deconstructed them to figure out how to make some of my own. Everyone was so impressed; I knew I could do anything. After graduating college and spending a summer in Jackson Hole, I moved to Texas to start building a name for myself. Every job I took on, I looked at as a paid internship. There is always an opportunity to learn from someone. I would not be where I am today without the encouragement of the community I grew into.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It’s never smooth, and change is the only constant thing. Thankfully I started my career in Hospitality. So, I learned early to anticipate challenges and trends. Also, being of mixed race and code-switching has always been a part of my existence. This silent skill has helped me along the way. Mistakes are humbling. They make you appreciate the wins. And when you’re an entrepreneur, you learn to celebrate big or small!

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Behind the Brands does everything from small intimate gatherings, large-scale music festivals, graphic design, or branding. We celebrate each event or brand with attention to detail and joy. We love creating exactly what you have in mind by listening and collaborating. When you chose us, we became a team. I am most proud of producing The Bars at Night are Big and Bright presents Big Freedia 2018 during San Antonio Cocktail Conference as a United States Bartender Fundraiser. Bartenders from neighboring states came down to help us make a night to remember. It all started with an idea and an email to find out how to book the Queen Diva. Thankfully through collaboration, drive, and hustle, we pulled it off!

Any big plans?
Our plans for the future are endless because our clients drive our inspiration. There is no opportunity we want to take on. As much as we love our traditional clients, we love a good challenge. Recently we installed a 3-hole Putt Putt at one of our client’s short-term rentals in San Antonio.
