Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Awe.
Hi Jennifer, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My husband and I own Awesome Contracting, a general contracting and handyman company that grew out of our desire to make a real difference in our community. Between the two of us, we have over 20 years of experience, and we take pride in giving every client personal attention, reliable service, and high-quality results.
In April 2023, I was diagnosed with breast cancer, and it completely changed my perspective on life. At the time, I was working as a corporate recruiter — it paid the bills, but I wasn’t passionate about it. Going through cancer forced me to stop, reevaluate, and ask myself what I really wanted out of life. Once I beat cancer, I knew I wanted to build something meaningful — something that would allow us to serve people in a way that felt personal and lasting.
That’s how Awesome Contracting truly came to be. We don’t build homes — we help people reimagine, improve, and care for the ones they already have. From renovations to repairs and everything in between, our goal is to make each project seamless and stress-free. It’s not just about the work we do, it’s about the relationships we build along the way.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road — but honestly, I think that’s what makes the journey meaningful. Starting a business comes with a fair share of growing pains. There were times we questioned if we were doing the right thing, or if we’d even make it through the first year. We had to learn how to balance quality work with the realities of running a business — managing schedules, clients, finances, and a team, all while keeping our standards high. But at the end of the day, we absolutely love what we do and we love that we have built this business together.
As you know, we’re big fans of Awesome Contracting. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Awesome Contracting is a general contracting and handyman company based right here in our community. We handle everything from home renovations and remodels to repairs and smaller projects that help homeowners keep their spaces in great shape. Whether it’s updating a kitchen, repairing a deck, or tackling a full home refresh, our goal is always the same — to make the process easy, honest, and stress-free for our clients.
What really sets us apart is how personal we make every job. We don’t just show up, do the work, and leave. We take time to listen, to understand what the client really wants, and to deliver results that reflect their vision and lifestyle. Looking ahead, we’re focused on steady growth — expanding our services while continuing to deliver the same personal, high-quality experience our clients count on. We’re strengthening our team, fine-tuning our processes, and exploring new ways to make home projects even smoother and more stress-free for homeowners.
We’re also proud to already be very active in our community. Giving back is a big part of who we are — whether it’s supporting local charities, sponsoring events, or lending a hand where it’s needed. As we grow, we plan to keep that community spirit at the heart of everything we do.
