Today we’d like to introduce you to Jenn Bailey.
Hi Jenn, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started this journey investigating mortgage fraud alongside the FBI for over 5 years. It was a very exciting career and gave me an incredible wealth of knowledge in the mortgage, all the ways to not get a loan, and all of the workarounds to help more people buy homes legitimately… without anyone going to jail lol.
Then I took 4 years “off” to raise two little ones (Ryder and Autumn) and meanwhile, my husband, Blake, and I founded a successful motorcycle boot company that took off like wildfire internationally (Motobailey.com). We both enjoy riding and building motorcycles and this was a fun project to get off the ground together, doing something we both loved while applying our entrepreneurial skills and desires.
I missed being in the mortgage field, being a numbers nerd, I decided to switch to the other side of the playing field in mortgage to help people buy homes… the right way. We took a recipe from a silicon valley tech start-up (that my husband, Blake, helped create) and applied it to mortgage to create a home buying process that leveraged technology, was stress-free, and enjoyable while providing a top-notch home buyer experience.
We partnered with Legacy Mutual Mortgage because they were going to allow us to test out these business theories with full autonomy and support. Out of all of this, we created, The Unity Group of Legacy Mutual Mortgage, and became the fastest-growing branch in our company’s 20-year history.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Has it been a smooth road? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I would not call it smooth… it’s been an absolute rocket ship. Being the fastest growing branch at the company certainly resulted in some initial growing pains to overcome, especially with hiring the right people for our team that was dedicated to providing the superior home buying experience that we expected.
It’s been quite an exciting journey, not smooth, but amazing, and I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way.

Please tell us more about your professional life and career.
People in our industry frequently refer to Blake and me as a power couple, a husband-wife dynamic duo, steeped in the education of silicon valley. It always makes me a little uncomfortable to hear people refer to us in this way, but I understand where it’s coming from.
We simply work hard and smart every single day, and apply our silicon valley start-up lessons to create the best lending experience possible for home buyers and this is the result.

Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 crisis?
We learned several lessons with Covid-19, first and foremost, family first… the importance of having a work-life balance and spending time with those you love because you never know what the future holds.
Second, almost everything can be done well remotely when buying a home with the right company set up to operate and educate buyers well remotely, while still “holding their hand” throughout the process so it’s fun and exciting, not scary and stressful.
