Hi Heidi, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
The business originally started with a love for gems. I attended the Gemological Institute of America in California where we mostly worked with gems that had already been cut. However, I was captivated by how magnificent raw gemstones are and their mining processes. At the time, Covid-19 had just hit and everyone was in a panic, including myself.
We began searching for something to lift our spirits and inspire others.
The semiprecious gemstone, Amethyst is what sparked the idea because of the calming effect it had on me.
I thought that if it made me feel that way, it could make others feel good too!
We started as just a small kiosk on Lackland Air Force Base and took off from there.
Ruby Road Gems was created from mind to market and was truly meant to show people hope in a darkening time.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Building a business from the ground up is hard work so it hasn’t always been smooth sailing. We had no idea how much traffic the company would bring in and simply weren’t prepared for the increase in popularity.
Before we knew it we were having to look into a surplus of merchandise, a store to expand to and staff to run it.
It was complicated at first to figure out but it got us to where we are today and we are incredibly grateful for that.

We are a top-notch gem shop, unlike any other in San Antonio! Shop owner Heidi Maguire is a certified gemologist so everything in the store is authenticated and ethically sourced.
There are a lot of fake gems out there but with us, you can always feel confident in your purchase.
We provide healing services such as Reiki, Tarot, Sound Baths, and jewelry made by local artists.
We are proud to have a beautiful store, with amazing clients and staff!

Our main goal is to help lift people’s spirits and would love for the readers to come check us out online or in person.
We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
The biggest lesson we’ve learned from Covid-19 is that shifts can come unexpectedly. It’s important to live life to the fullest and never take anything for granted.
Always look for the light at the end of the tunnel because a lot of good can come from bad situations.
Not only that but follow guidelines and wash your hands!
