Meet Grizelda Anguiano of Anchored Pediatric Mental Health & Family Coaching/ Anchored Coaching

Today we’d like to introduce you to Grizelda Anguiano

Hi Grizelda, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Thank you for having me; it’s a pleasure to be here. I was born and raised in Laredo, Texas, and my journey has always been shaped by a commitment to supporting families and mental health. After graduating from United High School in 1995, I earned my bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at San Antonio, followed by my medical degree and pediatric training at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, which I completed in 2009.

I began my career as a pediatric hospitalist at Methodist Children’s Hospital in San Antonio, Texas, where I cared for children with a wide range of medical conditions. From there, I transitioned into general pediatrics at Through The Years Pediatrics, building relationships with families and supporting children’s overall well-being.

My focus shifted toward mental health during my time at Mind Works Clinical and Counseling Psychology, where I practiced medication management. That experience deepened my understanding of ADHD and behavioral health and inspired me to explore how I could better support children and their families in meaningful ways. Having my own personal experiences with ADHD allowed me to approach my work with empathy and insight.

A pivotal moment for me was reading The Essential Guide to Raising Complex Kids with ADHD, Anxiety, and More by Elaine Taylor-Klaus. It opened my eyes to the power of coaching as a way to empower parents and foster resilience in families. I enrolled in Sanity School® for Parents, a program that transformed my perspective, and I later became a certified Sanity School® trainer to share this impactful work with families in my community.

To further my growth, I pursued coaching certification through iPEC and became certified in COR.E Dynamics and the Energy Leadership Index™ assessment. This training allowed me to integrate coaching principles with my medical expertise, offering families a more holistic approach to mental health and well-being. In 2023, I founded Anchored Pediatric Mental Health and Family Coaching, which emphasizes collaboration and shared vision in empowering families. Earlier this year, I expanded with Anchored Coaching to bring these services to a global audience, focusing on coaching parents of neurodiverse children and fostering stronger connections.

Through this work, I strive to honor each family’s unique experiences and provide the tools and support they need to thrive.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The path to entrepreneurship has certainly not been a smooth or linear one, but it has been filled with exponential growth and invaluable lessons. Transitioning from the stability of secure paychecks and 401K contributions to navigating the complexities of running a business presented challenges that required a steep learning curve. Marketing, business planning, and social media management were all entirely new territories I had to master, often with limited resources and time.

Balancing these demands while raising teenagers and managing a family has added another layer of complexity. Parenthood, especially during the teenage years, comes with its own set of challenges, from navigating their evolving needs to being present for important moments in their lives. Juggling the dual roles of being a hands-on parent and an entrepreneur has required a deep commitment to prioritizing what truly matters, along with a willingness to embrace imperfections and lean on my support system.

Through it all, I am incredibly blessed to have a supportive husband who has not only encouraged me but has allowed me to pursue my dreams and bring my ideas to life. His belief in me has been a cornerstone of my journey, giving me the confidence to take risks and grow, both personally and professionally.

I am also fortunate to have parents who were business owners themselves. Their example helped prepare me for some of the realities of entrepreneurship, so the challenges weren’t entirely unexpected. However, stepping into the role of a solopreneur brought its own unique hurdles. Juggling every aspect of the business on my own required persistence, adaptability, and a commitment to personal growth.

A special shoutout goes to the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO), whose programs have been instrumental in my journey. Their Start-Up program introduced me to foundational aspects like legal and tax requirements and business planning. The Digital Up program expanded my understanding of marketing and sales, while the Scale-Up program provided strategies for growth. Beyond the education, NAWBO has offered a network of support and encouragement that has been invaluable as I navigate this entrepreneurial path, both as a professional and as a mom.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
At Anchored Pediatric Mental Health and Family Coaching, our mission is to provide comprehensive and holistic support to families, empowering them to navigate the challenges of mental health and neurodiversity with confidence and connection. Our brand is deeply rooted in the values reflected in our logo, which holds rich symbolism that guides our work:

The Cross represents Faith First, emphasizing a foundation of belief and purpose.
The Home symbolizes Foundation, where growth, love, and connection begin.
The “A” signifies the Heart of the Home, underscoring the family as the center of everything we do.
The Mirrored G’s stand for Connected Individuals, reminding us that while each family member is unique, the balance and well-being of one affects the entire family unit.
We specialize in mental health with a particular passion for supporting families raising children with ADHD. What sets us apart is the time we invest with our patients and families. Beyond evaluations and medication management, we offer personalized care that includes coaching and guidance to help families thrive holistically. Adding coaching to our services has been transformational—not just for me personally, but for the families I am privileged to work with. Coaching brings a new depth to our approach, helping families create a shared vision and develop practical strategies to achieve their goals.

Our offerings include:

Comprehensive Behavioral Health Assessments
Medication Management for ADHD, Anxiety, and Depression
Family Coaching, integrating a holistic perspective to promote long-term wellness
At Anchored, we believe mental health is about much more than simply managing symptoms; it’s about equipping families with the tools to create a future filled with purpose and potential. We help families “raise their anchors,” exploring what optimal well-being looks like for them, and then empower them to “drop their anchor” in a new, intentionally chosen place.

What I am most proud of is the opportunity to walk alongside families on their journeys. Every family is different, and it is a privilege to contribute to their growth, resilience, and connection. I hope readers will recognize that Anchored is not just a service—it’s a partner in helping families navigate life’s waters, no matter how rough or calm they may be.

What’s next?
The future of Anchored Coaching is all about growth, connection, and accessibility. I am passionate about expanding our coaching services to reach more families and individuals globally, ensuring that support is available to those navigating the complexities of mental health, parenting, and family dynamics. A key focus is on creating accessible and impactful parenting courses, designed to provide tools and strategies that can transform the way families connect and thrive.

I also look forward to partnering with more organizations, communities, and like-minded professionals to broaden our reach and amplify the impact of our holistic approach. Collaboration is at the heart of what I do, and I’m excited to work with others who share the vision of empowering families to raise their anchors and find stability and purpose in their lives.

In the coming years, I plan to build on these foundations by integrating more innovative resources, offering hybrid programs that combine self-directed learning with personalized coaching, and continuing to refine the services we provide to meet the evolving needs of families. The goal is to create a ripple effect of positive change—one family, one connection, and one anchor at a time.
