Meet Erika Renée of San Antonio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Erika Renée

Hi Erika, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My music career officially began after I graduated college in 2018. While still in college I was feeling a bit stressed out due to some of the courses I was taking and in order to unwind and de-stress a little I began to do karaoke around town. People then began to tell me that they loved what they heard and recommended I should do it professionally. Even people who didn’t speak spanish would tell me that they didn’t understand what I was singing but they loved it! Prior to graduating college I wrote my first song titled ”Tu Chaparrita” which became an instant hit once it was released in 2019! I continued to release music until I finally released my first 11 song album in 2023, titled after my first single “Tu Chaparrita” with all original songs written by myself. I’ve had the opportunity to perform and record music in both the United States and Mexico! I have also had the honor of being invited to record songs written by famous artists and composers, as well as had the privilege of releasing two of them titled “Báilame” written by Blanca Estela Zurita and “Puedo Ser Tu Mujer” by Juan Carlos Vargas and Diego García! I have also had the honor of being the recipient of a few music awards such as those of Solo Gruperas (Mexico) in 2022 and 2023! I continue to write and release music because I love writing and performing, and because the public appreciates my music and can connect with it. I am definitely grateful to my public relations office Nubemix in Mexico for all their hard work and support, as well as everyone who’s helped me along the way to include my fans, friends, and family, who continue to support my music! Thank you!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The music industry is definitely a tough one, and it has definitely not been a smooth road in my case. I started from the bottom and have had to fight my way up just like many. I’ve knocked at many doors to introduce my music to others, divide my time between my family and work, and tend to my home, and artistic life!

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I work on a variety of Regional Mexican music, Tex-Mex cumbias, Tejano cumbias, Banda, Rancheras, and Norteño. I am most proud of being able to release my first album of all original work that represents music from different genres. I believe what sets me apart from others is that I write my own music and come up with my own melodies for my songs and am very involved in the entire musical process. I also consider myself a very versatile artist!

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
I see great things happening in my industry over the next 5-10 years! There is definitely a lot of great talent emerging every day and there are definitely big shifts happening! For example there are more and more women joining the industry who are beginning to make a name for themselves!
