Meet Elizabeth Ramirez of Stone oak/ Hollywood park

Today we’d like to introduce you to Elizabeth Ramirez.

Hi Elizabeth , so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started cosmetology at 16 attended during high school. Growing up in the inner city of Chicago my parents were overprotective and I had nothing to do so I literally went to sign up to school all by myself thinking well at least I can get out of the house and use this trade to go to college. Well that was the case for two years and one day I was in the financial office trying to get grants when I realized I already loved what I was doing and it has been such a blessing and my livelihood.
I started at a chain salon and after 5 years of being there my Mom also a stylist opened up the first salon . I loved every minute of interacting with clients and seeing their happy faces as they walked out. I was a natural at it and sooner than later we had the busiest business in the area. I was pretty much my own boss at a very young age. I was probably 24 when I got the opportunity to become the fist national bilingual educator for Paulmitchell in our region! That was the best experience I’ve ever had not only did I get to experience life in a different perspective I had the opportunity to receive endless classes that would have been beyond my budget I was also able to share my passion with others in advance in salon classes . At 27 I opened my own salon and it was everything I ever dreamed of.
After that I have been able to have my own business and loving every minute of it. Of course there were challenges but I always knew that this was my cailing.
My move to San Antonio was definitely one of those challenges I kept my salon in Chicago and my loyal clients waited for me once a month to do hair for a week and it actually worked until Covid , six years of traveling back and forth and decided to open a salon in San Antonio during that timeframe.
I have been in in this industry for more than 3 decades and have mentored countless stylists to take this industry to the next level and truly mastering the craft with education and knowledge. Very proud of so many stylists that have grown and falling in love with their craft.
Now my final chapter hasn’t been easy I closed my salon after a very successful run due to personal reasons and rented a couple of stations in a salon that was very humbling and challenging because I missed everything about my own space and brand , so here I am once again stronger than ever with the same enthusiasm and passion that I have always carried! My concept is having the best environment and tools to have once again a dream team full of knowledge and resources to be the best in the area and offer all services with confidence.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
One of the biggest challenges has been that everyday you have to be committed to your business behind the chair and my biggest challenge was when my life was stand still during a difficult period as my mother was struggling with cancer. Unfortunately in those times you have a choice to make and with no regrets I declined my business and enjoyed as much as I could with my family. Now as far as challenges in this industry it’s endless from products tripling in price after Covid and overhead becoming a reality but my clients have been very supportive and they know that I stand behind quality products before anything.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
Many people have been playing party of the role to make a business work from behind the scenes to social presence. And every team I have had is part of this role and credit
