Meet Elisa Ramirez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Elisa Ramirez.

Hi Elisa, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
I started my wreath business in 2014 when I made a fall wreath for my home and posted the picture of the wreath on my personal Facebook page. From there on, I began to get requests from family, friends, and coworkers for wreaths, garlands, and centerpieces. I then decided to open my Etsy shop and began to fill custom orders and ship wreaths all over the country.

In the late spring of 2016, my family and I lost my mother, Olivia to long-term illness. As devastating as it was to lose my mother and the monarchy of the family, I knew I had to find the strength in me to overcome the grief. I decided to rename my wreath business after my mother, Unique Olivia’s Design, and that every time I made a wreath or decoration a piece of my mom’s memory would live on. In 2020, with the ongoing epidemic of Covid-19, my husband lost his oil field job the company went out of business. We were facing so many financial issues and the holidays were approaching and I didn’t know how we going to buy Christmas gifts for our family.

I started to decorate around my home for the holiday and pulled out one of my small tree 6ft flocked Christmas trees. I decorated the tree with decorations that I already had. I again posted the finished picture of the beautiful tree on Facebook and on my neighborhood Facebook Page. I got a request from a neighbor whom I never met she wanted me to help her with her tree. I agreed to meet her and used what she already had and just purchased a ribbon to add to the tree. I had no idea that I had just started a new chapter in my decorating business.

After decorating a complete stranger Christmas Tree and how beautiful the tree turned out I knew I could start Christmas Tree Decorating business. I was able to do more trees for new clients and I was also able to get the family Christmas Gifts with money that I earned. Looking back now, I feel that I am so proud of the woman I have become reinventing myself to do better and achieve all of my goals but most of all to make my mother proud of the daughter she raised.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t been a smooth road in achieving my goals struggling with time management because I work a full-time job in the medical field and being mom and wife can be a lot at times. But I have found ways to sort what’s important and what can wait.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I specialize in making every day, all seasons, and custom wreaths. And also have extended my crafting skills into Professional Christmas Tree Decorating Trees of Envy providing services in San Antonio and surrounding cities.

I am most proud of the creative gene that I inherited from my late mother, Olivia.

What sets me apart from others is that I take pride in every design I make and I am my own worst critic when I look at my designs. If I m not happy with how something I made turned out I will take it apart and remake it till I am happy with end result.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I see my decorating business over the next 5-10 years is I make name for myself and becoming a home interior decorator is my biggest dream. I want to create beautiful designs in decorating and work on my Christmas Tree decorating business to be well known in my city San Antonio where I was born and raised.
