Meet Elena Garcia of Elena Salon Studios

Today we’d like to introduce you to Elena Garcia.

Hi Elena, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My heart and soul are San Antonian even though I was born in Louisiana. I’m a woman of faith, a mother, a wife, and a business owner. I come from humble beginnings, my parents were Mexican immigrants who traveled the country as farm workers.

So owning a business at a young age for me seemed so out of reach. Yet mindset is a powerful tool. Loving all things beauty as a child I set my eyes on cosmetology. At the age of 19, I started my cosmetology career at Saks Fifth Ave Salon as an assistant. Paying my dues but learning the true art of hair coloring and styling. It is here where my creativity and confidence flourished.

The idea of opening a salon suites business really came from my own experience. I had been running my own small studio for almost a decade. When we reopened after the Covid shut down, I realized this concept would benefit everyone. The customer loved the privacy and safety of individual rooms and the operator loved the concept of having full creative and financial freedom.

So with the support of my entrepreneurial husband we set on a mission to find a space that allowed me to fulfill my dream. As the saying goes “Ask, Believe and You Shall Receive”.

During the peak of the pandemic we came across the perfect building that allowed me the chance to own and renovate 8 private salon studios. It was my dream come true. However, I had no actual business degree or marketing background to make this work but what I did have was the ambition to succeed. SO I WENT FOR IT! Besides, you don’t learn how to drive a parked car.

Elena Salon Studios opened its doors on June 2021!

I’m now honored to serve my professional peers by providing quality salon spaces for them to grow in their own success. We have a waitlist on all of our luxury suites and we were just nominated by the San Antonio Current for Best Hair Salon and Best Place to Work.

Everday I give thanks for this journey. I hope my story inspires others to never give up but most importantly to take action on those dreams.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Opening any business will always come with struggles and challenges. However, focusing on the solutions and what you can control is most important. For example, when Covid forced all salons to shut down of course it was scary. It was unknown territory!

However from that challenge innovation grew. More than ever we learned to think outside of the box by achieving other sources of revenue. For example, selling virtual products to our clients or customizing at home color kits for them.

Being in business is never easy but it’s 100% worth it. You get to create positive change and make an impact on the community or people’s lives.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
We are a local family-owned Salon Suites business that provides fully equipped spaces for beauty professionals to branch out on their own. A platform that allows them creative freedom and endless opportunity for growth.

My entire mission is to motivate women in the beauty industry to reach their fullest potential. To become fearless innovative entrepreneurs.

What sets my business apart is we are one of the few salon suites that provide educational and business resources for our members at no cost to them. I like to lead by example and from the heart.

What do you think about luck?
I believe that you create your own luck by working hard, staying humble, and helping others.
