Meet Courtney Dallimore of Betty Lou Coffee Co.

Today we’d like to introduce you to Courtney Dallimore

Hi Courtney, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My husband and I have always dreamed of opening a coffee shop, but knew the investment and overhead were not something we could afford initially. So, last summer we stumbled upon a vintage trailer and decided to take a leap of faith and open a mobile coffee business. We named it after my Granny, Betty, and my late Granddaddy, Marvin Louis. I remember as a child drinking “coffee milk” in their kitchen, which was just milk with a bit of coffee and a lot of sugar cubes!

Most of the time, we serve at a fixed spot, but we also provide catering for weddings and events. Recently, we got the chance to open a shop inside a speakeasy bar, and we launched on October 14—exactly one year after we started our mobile coffee shop! It has taken a lot of hard work, but it is a wonderful blessing and truly a dream come true!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Starting a business can be really tough, especially when it comes to finances. We have put in a lot of time and money, unsure if it would pay off. Thankfully, it has been successful, but almost every dollar we’ve earned has gone right back into the business. With the current economic downturn, it’s been hard to keep things going. We understand that taking risks is part of being entrepreneurs, but it can be tough! We know we are only one year in, and we remain optimistic about the future of Betty Lou — we love coffee and bringing people together, and want to continue to share that passion with our community for years to come.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Betty Lou Coffee Co.?
We are a coffee company operating out of a vintage trailer located in the heart of New Braunfels, as well as our new storefront shop in north New Braunfels! We pride ourselves on creating unique handcrafted espresso drinks, matcha, cold brew, lotus energy drinks, teas, & even fun drinks for the lil’ Bettys! We make the majority of our syrups from scratch and are dedicated to crafting the perfect beverage, just how you like it! We love creating unique drinks and flavor combinations that you can’t find at big chain shops. One of our most popular drinks is our Nutty Betty, a latte made with pistachio creme that we get imported from Italy.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Before I began this business, I worked as a registered nurse, mainly in Neonatal Intensive Care. Taking care of the smallest and most vulnerable patients was a true privilege. My love for helping people has also carried over into the coffee industry. Although it seems small, it brings me so much joy to craft drinks that help brighten someone’s day!
