Hi Coach Mike, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, you could tell our readers some of your backstories.
I started my martial arts journey following the inspiration of Chinese and Hong Kong films like the Shaw Brothers and childhood heroes like Bruce Lee and Gordon Liu. I was eventually training and becoming obsessed with evolving as a martial arts practitioner.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
When you’re passionate about something and truly enjoy the art or sport of it. Your journey, for the most part, is smooth and much enjoyable. Of course, there’s the reality of life and outside distractions and barriers that may try to prevent or slow down your process, but you must stay focused on the bigger picture and remind yourself what your goals are. The one thing martial arts has taught me is to fight on, no matter how hard or how much pain you might endure or the challenges you might face. Keep fighting and get through it. While out of it, you become more knowledgeable and stronger. Life will test you. It’s all how you face it. Face it and stare it dead in the eyes and not back down.

Much of my credit stems from the people I meet and work with. They are my inspiration and motivation. I listen to their needs and wants. When they meet and reach their goals or obtain a once-impossible task. That is the very thing that excites me.
