Meet Claudia Villarreal of Condra Artista Model and Talent Agency

Today we’d like to introduce you to Claudia Villarreal.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
During my senior year at Thomas Jefferson High School, I participated in local sets as a film extra, and did a few fashion modeling gigs. I thought it was so fun so I looked for a Talent Agency after getting my head shots. But as life goes, I became very busy at school graduating from UT Austin, then UTHSCSA. Fast forward 20+ years and once again I became involved in the industry with my kids. I read that Condra Artista Talent Agency, founded in 1984 by Priscilla Condra was looking for a new Owner. I briefly met with Linda Jurado, who at that time had run Condra Artista for 10 years, and knew this was the right fit for me. I loved the history of this company, the talent that were represented, and the long standing connections that were in place. After discussing the opportunity with my family and my mom, who helped me secure a loan, we decided to jump in and buy the company. That was 9 years ago and I still wake up everyday loving what I do. Condra represents talent of all ages, helps foster new talent, and supports our actors to promote them for opportunities in the industry.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Covid was definitely a trying time. Like everyone else, we did out our best to keep moving, stay optimistic and keep working. I’m thankful to the film community for working through those difficulties and I think we came out stronger.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Condra Artista Model and Talent Agency?
Condra Artista is celebrating 41 years in business working with credible casting directors locally, state-wide and nationally for our actors and talent. Most people are unaware that Condra has a far reach. We represent talent throughout Texas and have talent outreach in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles to name a few. We work with clients ranging from local mom and pop shops to large brand-name clients and have had talent book local and feature films. Helping our talent meet their fullest potential at Condra Artista is our ultimate goal so we strive everyday working diligently in development, marketing and placement for everyone we represent.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
Personally, I believe that both “good” and “bad” luck have brought me to where I am today. There was a period of time where I experienced a severe illness for several years prior to my time at Condra. It was certainly a time of uncertainty and despair. Once I started to feel better, I wanted to push myself and started seeking opportunities. I think when you look, ask, engage and do not give up, “good” luck begins to present itself because you are open to it. You listen, you share yourself and God will open the doors that you need. Bringing that mindset into my professional life, I have to believe I am in the right place at the right time. I thank God everyday for my health, and my life. I feel truly blessed to be surrounded by the Talent we represent, friendships I have made, and acquaintances from the film community.
